I will be praying for it meeting.
I had no idea where to post this awsome experience. Guess it falls under this as it is part of the ministry. I had a situation as the youth leader out where I live on the rez. Well we have had a mormon boy attending our youth group for over a year he is one of my friends sons. She has been letting her son come to my church and doing things with us because as she put it "we wouldnt be telling her kid they are going to hell" maybe not in those words but it was brought up.
Well at youth camp last year he sat with me and our pastor at the time and just asked questions. I went and got my pastor cause i didnt feel confident in answering these questions.
Now that you have the background on this boy. Our church (including the teens) have been praying for this guy and the family to find Christ.
He wanted to join e-team from Go WIDE and I was just stressing about how am I going to tell this kid you cant be on this team unless you are a BELIEVER in Christ without driving him off. Well why was I stressing God had it under control totally.
I brought it up at the end of youth group this past SUnday. We started the GOSPEL journey and kicked it off with a GOSPEL scavenger hunt (so not spelled right but I am tired).
I was just talking with them that it is a calling to be on the e-team not a duty. BUt the most important thing is you need to know him. YOu need a relationship with Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. I explained there is a difference between knowing about God and knowing him. Knowing about God wont get you to heaven he will send you away. Because you didnt know him your name is not in the lambs book of life. YOu cant evangalize someone you dont know.
I had one of the adult sponsors close us in prayer and the whole time I felt I needed to give a chance for them to accept christ.
I did it I spoke up and opened that up for prayer. I have never done such a thing in my life and was basically doing Okay God please handle this.
He RAISED HIS HAND. I noticed it and after a few more minutes I closed us in prayer. I walked over the the other adult and this guy walked up and I asked him if he needed to talk. He gave me a pained look and I told him I'd meet him in the kitchen. He wanted to step to the boys room. I turned to the group and asked for prayer cause I didnt have a clue what to do.
I finally got in to the kitchen with him and closed the door (it had a window in it gotta be careful) and asked him what was going on. HE wanted to know he wasnt crazy that he had been hearing his name called all this past week. I asked him a few more questions and then I simply made sure he was making the decision not feeling that he was being pushed.
He wanted to accept him and let him all the way into his heart. He began to pray and then I asked if he would like to me help him (again I have never been on this side of the prayer with another person) I began a version of a sinners prayer. HE accepted CHRIST!! I got clobbered into a hug and told him welcome to the family and that all heaven rejoices.
He went back into where the other teens were and begin to tell and everyone loved the way he told them. HE said "He's with me now and I am never gonna push him out"
THat was when I lost it I just started crying as well as the girls from our group. The guys all shook his hand and the girls hugged me.
BUt it was amazing to see this boy who has been so close for so long finally hear God call him. And let him in.
He has a long way to go as he is from a strong mormon background but God has this boy. PRAISE GOD!!!!!
GOD ROCKS!!!!!
God bless you
