Why I like Mark Matlock

Posted on Wednesday 6 December 2006 by Greg @ 4:09 pm
Filed under: Rants

Last weekend I bumped into my friend Mark Matlock (www.planetwisdom.com) at Youth Specialties. I love the guy. In a minsitry world full of plastic people with agendas and attitudes this dude is the real deal. He is creative, highly intelligent, honest and did I say creative?

Although sometimes both of us are running our own conferences in the same city on the same weekend we have a great relationship and pray for each other often. He is a true breath of fresh air in a pride polluted  culture of (oftentimes) big headed ministry superstars.

All of us need friends and I’m glad that Mark is one of mine.

Signed, Greg Stier

    • I like Mark, too.  I am disappointed I did not get to talk with you in Charlotte.  I enjoyed talking with Mark about what is happening in Chicago and the growth of his conference that he hosts here in St. Charles.  I have been listening to the CD of your seminar today and I am really encouraged, as I am when we’ve been together before. (Saddle Back, San Diego or was it Saint Louis? ‘99, 2000.)    I enjoyed the story you shared about the woman in the supermarket and how your son came to help  you out.  I wish I had been as good at telling my sons (7,5) how to tell the story as well as you have taught yours.  They know a lot about Christ, maybe more than I realize, but I just wanted to let you know that it is encouraging to hear your story.
