What are your top ten favorite movies of all time?

Posted on Monday 31 March 2008 by Greg @ 4:49 pm
Filed under: Rants

Here’s my list:

1. Rocky (Academy Award Winner for Best Picture of 1977…and, yes, I cried.)
2. Sergeant York (based on a true story of a Christian soldier in World War I)
3. Braveheart
4. The Passion of the Christ
5. Anne of Green Gables (I feel pretty, oh so pretty. I feel pretty and witty and…)
6. Rocky Balboa (a fitting end to an era)
7. Cinderella Man (do you get the feeling I like movies with a punch?)
8. Cool Hand Luke
9. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (and not just because my buddy directed it)
10. Left Behind (just kidding)…how about Enchanted (I am secure in my manhood…I think.)

What are your top ten favorite movies of all time?

    • hmmmmm…….very hard for one who loves ‘the movies’….. So many (too many) to choose from, so I’m going far back in my memory to think of movies that I will still watch over and over again, anytime I can find them on the tube or DVD. It will be easy to see, I’m OLD!

Sleeping Beauty (1939 Disney version-Maleficent, the wicked witch/dragon scared me to death!…oh yeah..I wasn’t born yet, it’s just my all-time fave Disney flick!)
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs (1937 Disney version-sweet,classic tale of good overcoming evil)
Gone With The Wind (classic story of trying to work your way to redemption)
The Wizard of Oz (just a classic story!)
The Robe (Richard Burton/Victor Mature learning about sacrifice, grace and redemption)
King of Kings (the Jeffrey Hunter version)
Follow That Dream (Elvis Presley-’nuff said!)
Highlander (the 1st movie) (immortality in this/several lifetime(s)-gotta love fantasy!)
Dances With Wolves (okay…so I can get a little more recent!)
Shindler’s List (a truth we should never forget!)

**Note to BigDaddy…no disrespect intended, but are you SURE about Road House? ;)

    • I knew someone would knock on Road House. Yes it is the cheesiest movie ever and “Pain don’t hurt” was voted stupidest movie line ever…but…. I have worked security most of my life and the “cooler” philosophy of Road House is the most accurate ever!! A soft answer turns away wrath, if not rip out their esophagus… something like that right?

And I too must addendum my list…but rather than replace I am just going to take liberty and call mine “Top 1″!!!
Wild Hogs!!!! (when you are a biker, this is the funniest comedy ever!!)
The Wild One (Glo heres a Marlon Brando one for you)
Foot Loose (This movie defined my mid ’80’s generation, remember the socks!!)

(geesh…how can people not appreciate Road House? *crawls to bean bag and turns on some Pat Swayze*)

and I’ll take Greg’s “Enchanted” as well! Great movie with many subtle Disney influences throughout!

If you can’t tell, I’m a war movie junkie. It is really too hard to just pick ten movies. If it grabs my attention, I’m gonna watch it all the way through. Who can resist getting so involved in a movie that you feel like you are there. Any movie that can make me laugh so hard that my whole body hurts, now that awesome. And if you don’t like the cartoons - did you skip childhood? I know I sure didn’t. I will watch any of them with my kids. Thanks for taking the time to read my junk mail. Also, who can resist a good John Wayne movie?
