Invincible Youth Ministry Conference Tour

Welcome aboard Chicago!

Posted on Thursday 29 March 2007 by Greg @ 9:01 am
Filed under: Rants

Well here we are at our last conference city of the Game Day tour…Chicago. I want to be the first to welcome my friends form Chicago (Chicagoites? Chicagoens? Chi Town People?) aboard the Metro love train! Hey Chicago: I love your pizza and your people. But I loathe your tolls (and trolls?) What if there was a toll troll? He could demand loose change and live off pizza crust. That would be cool.

Maybe you can tell that I’m a little giddy to be in the big city. The first time I was in Chicago I was fifteen years old. I got lost in what I later found out was the toughest part of inner city Chicago. I wasn’t mugged or hugged. But I was helped by a very nice man who helped me get my bearings and find my way back to the group I came to Chicago with.

But I digress.

I can’t wait for this weekend. We’ll have somewhere around 3,000 in the windy city! This is our LARGEST first year city ever! My hope is that our Chicago conference blows up to be as big as Denver and St. Louis in a few short years.

My prayer is that God uses this weekend in big, big ways to start a spiritual revolution in and around the great city of Chicago through an army of God fearing, Scripture reading, Bible preaching, Jesus loving teen saints!

Watch out for them toll trolls and bring on the pizza!

Signed, Greg Stier

    • He hellow  Remember the Shift conference Greg?? Remember Your breakout session?? You told us to write a letter to someone who didn’t know Jesus… Me and my friend came all the way from the Netherlands and really enjoyed  this session. You moved our hearts! Well I didn’t write that letter within 48 hours after the conference, but I did write it! It wasn’t that easy to tell my brother why I choose to believe. He really hates churches and people who call themself christians. But I did write that letter, even send him a book. Never expect him to answer, but when he does, I let you know! It felt really good to post that letter. It was in a way an answer to what God asked me to do. He will have his way in it… Thank you for teaching us ‘Evangelism with guts!’ We hope to be able to go to the shift conference next year! bye! Sara

    • Hi Greg, i was in Columbus, Ohio, and I’ve been telling my evolutionist friend about God and Jesus, and I remind her every day that Jesus loves her, but she’s so stubborn. She even admits it, do you have any advice on how to help her? Also, I’ve been writing about love and Jesus on pieces of paper and giving them to people and telling them about Jesus, I even gave one to a teacher! Pray for me, and I would love some advice.

    • I pray that this conference touches as many lives as it did at the Atlanta Conference, remember when you told us to take the 48 hour challenge and tell a friend about Christ, i didn’t do it but i did tell my friends how i went out and shared the gospel with people i didn’t know–they weren’t as excited as i was and they kind of gave me this " you weird christian look" but the weird thing is, is that several of them profess to be Christians–but hey i was prosecuted for the sake of Christ and in fact it was an honor– i bought one of " LOSER" shirts where on the back they say- whoever finds his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it–people gave me horrible looks when they saw the front of the shirt and a few people were even bold enough to say stuff about when they saw the front but when i told them what the back said they were like" oh, i didn’t know…um sorry’" can you say GUILT TRIPPER i got attention for Christ and i am not afraid to wear a shirt that brings him glory! I am praying for you and your ministry                                                                                                     In Christ,                                                                                                     Chelsea

    • Welcome Chi-Town. my first time in Chicago was in the late 80’s. I was stationed at Fort Riley KS. I was in the 2/16 Infantry Scout Platoon  and we got to go to Chicago to march in the Armed Forces Day Parade.  It was great.  A few hundred grunts with spit shined boots, uniforms starched so much that they could stand up on their own, and M16’s with fixed bayonets marching in downtown Chicago, with anti military protestors running up to our Chaplin and calling him a baby killer.  Maybe somebody should have told them that Chaplins do not carry weapons.  Anyway I am excited about the army of teenagers about to be released on the windy city.  I pray that the Holy Spirit shows up like a mighty rushing wind and does GREAT things!

    • Hey Greg! I’m guessing that all of these peoples prayers were answered, because the Chicago conference was AMAZING! It wasn’t half as big as 2006 in Missouri, but it was definately just as moving and inspirational, and maybe a little cooler because Superchic[K] was there. =]] You signed my wristband and my group got our picture taken with you. Highly doubt you remember it, ha. But it made my night. Youre a wonderful speaker and I’ll definately see you in 2008. Much love. <3

    • Hey! Dare2share was one of the best experiences ive ever had! I started to tell my mom all of the things we did, and i didnt finish, but she said "thats more than you’ve EVER learned in church for all these years" Im Catholic, and church every sunday is the SAME every week, we dont seem to learn anything new, not really anything to help us.. thats why i like attending the baptist church with my friend, and being in the youth group. Ive talked to my mom about the Baptist church, and she is considering going to that church every Sunday instead, because they actually worship, and talk about things that can happen in real life and experiences that they’ve HAD… and to top it off, they sing better songs! haha ..the kind that mean more.. not just all old ones i barely understand.. I just wanted to tell you how much fun i had, how much this made a difference, and how i hope we come again/cant wait till next year!
