The last conference of the tour

Posted on Thursday 10 April 2008 by Greg @ 5:56 am
    Filed under: Rants

Today I leave to go to Chicago where we will do our last conference of the Survive Tour. So far it has been a powerful run. God has done and continues to do some amazing things in and through the tens of thousands of teenagers who have been trained and equipped through the Dare 2 Share conferences.

Pray for this last event to be powerful and effective. My prayer is that God’s Spirit moves in hearts in such a way that these teenagers are never the same. Also pray for the youth leaders to put into practice the Deep and Wide Youth Ministry model in the context of their youth group. The last thing I want these equipping weekends to be is a one weekend hip, hip, hooray holy huddle. Youth leaders need to implement this long term model so that they can see ongoing growth (in depth of spirituality and new conversion growth) in the context of their youth ministries.

Also, I’m bringing Jeremy my seven year old son (of “Teeter Totter Theology” fame) with me on this trip. Pray that we have some great daddy/son time this weekend in the windy city. I love that little boy.

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • Go Chicago!
Our youth pastor is already planning out next year and will be in Denver Next week for the training. The kids are fired up about it as well.

God Bless and be careful in the windy city.

        Galatians 3:26-27 (NIV)
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

anyway thank god you were not with us because we went on the mountains to hike.
we went to kennesaw mountain and stone mountain and which is hard for us!!! some of us have sunburns lol!!

Not only that we also talk about god during the mountain at taking breaks during lunch and it is amazing how god drew this picture of the mountain and make it come true. it is soo pretty when you are on the top of the mountain and you can see it up high!!

other than that it was awesome!!!!

      • Good luck at the last conference! Tear. :( I will be praying for you! Oh, yeah, I almost forgot! At my Youth Group, imPact, we are watching your DVD of the Gospel Journey. It is so exciting! I love it! Well, we just watch the one with the lamb, and everybody there was crying because they thought you were going to sacrifice it! I am glad you didn’t because it is so cute! I know that was random, but I just wanted to say I have learned so much through watching it. So, yeah. I think that is it. Keep up the great work on your blog.

        God Bless,
        KT

      • Hey Greg,

Your “currently listening to” music has not changed since I found your site months ago! I’m pretty sure you are not still only spinning those 4 cd’s, but just in case you are, here’s some bands you should check out:

        THE GLORIOUS UNSEEN
        STARLIT PLATOON
        BRAILLE

        Enjoy!

      • Hey greg. Sad to hear about the end of the tour but now you get to go home and see your boy! I have a problem though and was wanting to know if you could help. My friends want me to buy a T-shirt that says “Gay fine by me.” and some of my friends are gay but my father says that the bible calls it an abomination and he doesn’t approve. I feel sorta guilty now but I’m torn and it’s really making me sad…Glad if you can help. I’d greatly appreciate it.

      • I was at my 1st D2S conference in chicago. From now on whenever I hear someone say that this country is in real trouble because our youth is selfish, self-centered etc I will remember all 5000 pairs of hands raised in worship to God in that conference center and know that our future some day will be in those hands and know that we will be okay. More than okay-Blessed!
Thank you for your ministry and the impact it has.
        Blessings!

      • Greg,
I absolutly loved the Survive Trip. I loved the all of the speakers and I loved the canned food drive that we participated in. But the coolest part about it was that while doing the canned food drive, I was able to tell someone about the GOSPEL. It made me feel really good because a lot of the people that I had went to said that they thought they would go to heaven because they were a good person and that they were Christians. But when I asked them if they would let me tell them about the GOSPEL they said NO! And that was kind of depressing in a way because I knew that that wasn’t going to get me to heaven and they wouldn’t even let me tell them about it. There was even one guy that just slammed the door in my face after I said my name. But then right after that I was able to tell that one person about the GOSPEL and it was so cool. Not to mention I was the only one in my youth group who was able to tell someone. I am 100% certain that I will be going next year.
I also wanted to thank you for all of the encouraging words that you gave because they really gave me the courage (along with GOD) to be able to tell someone. If you, and God, had not spoke to me I probably never would’ve had that much courage to go out and tell someone. Now I can feel that I am a stronger person in the Lord and that I can fully depend on Him to help me tell other people.
        Thank you.
