Invincible Youth Ministry Conference Tour

Survive in Columbus

Posted on Friday 1 February 2008 by Greg @ 8:55 am
Filed under: Rants

This weekend we are doing the Survive Conference with our good friends in Columbus, Ohio. Well over 5,000 screaming teenagers are signed up to get equipped to know, live and share their faith in Jesus. The Washington Projects, Lincoln Brewster, Derwin Gray, Zane Black and many others are going to be working hard for twenty six hours to help them do just that.

The cool thing is that we know that all of the training that we need to “download” into the hearts and lives of these teenagers can’t take place in a weekend. That’s why I’ll spend significant time training youth leaders on Saturday how to build a Deep and Wide Youth Ministry strategy.

Here are some of the follow up tools we provide youth leaders, teenagers, parents and donors to carry on “dare to share” long after the conference leaves town:

Soul Fuel: A weekly theology training devotional for teenagers designed to help teenagers understand and live out their faith. It’s always culturally relevant, concise and powerful. This comes with a free parent/teen guide and youth leader curriculum. Did I mention that it’s all free?

Culture Commission: A weekly “how to use ____________” to share the gospel. This week it is on “how to use the Superbowl” to bring Jesus up with your friends. Every week this short article gives teenagers and adults an easy way to bring the subject of spirituality up in a non threatening way.

How to witness to Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, Jehovah’s Witnesses…we have fourteen different articles available for teenagers and adults to draw from so they can be better witnesses.

Message Boards: Have a question about theology, evangelism, life? Become a registered user on our MBs and be able to interact with other teenagers and godly Christian adults about it.

Random Devos: Enough said.

In addition you can watch teens and youth leaders (and whoever) can watch our weekly chapel podcasts called Dare 2 Share Uncensored.

Pray for the teenagers in Columbus to be equipped during and after this weekend to know, live, share and own their faith in Jesus! And use the tools listed above so you can live and share your faith as well!

Signed, Greg Stier

BTY, great podcast on ‘Fighting Words’. I know I have too much ‘Lion’ and need to allow His Lamb to soften me if I am to be Effective for Him with His Children around me. Thanks for the Reminder… and may His Power be on the Survive TEAM in Columbus!

    • Greg,

I talked to you before the youth leader session, and you told me you would be praying. What you told me about prayer and duct tape came true this weekend! When I find out the topic of the third session, I freaked! Not because of the me, but because of the parents! I spent all of lunch calling every parent informing them of the session! Do words keep racing through my mind…”what if!” What if my teens hadn’t heard that message? What if my teens hadn’t heard that there’s forgiveness no matter what? What if one student hadn’t come…I know! That wouldn’t have been his favorite session! He loved it because it was funny, but also because he realized what God wanted and why! All my teens just got picked up, but before one left she said one thing that made me thing. “Wait until my parents hear that one of the speakers got a girl pregant and had an abortion!” Instead of freaking I told her yeah, but…Jesus Transforms and Renews and Changes people. She would be surprised of the past of many suposedly strong Christians. One being me! I won’t go into my story, but I can relate to Zane, not fully, but very closely! I wrote all that to tell you this. THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO THE LORD! You make a difference in the lives of teens AND their leaders! THANK YOU FOR BEING FAITHFUL AND FULL OF FAITH! It shows! GOD ROCKS!

    • I just went to that conference right there in Columbus Ohio! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!! It was so much fun!! i didn’t get to do the cellphone challenge b/c my battery was dead and i was thinking of one specific person to call and i didn’t know his number. But i will call him tomorrow and I am really praying and hoping that he becomes a Christian b/c he just started smoking and he is underage and i am really worried about him so could you please pray for him his name is Jacob. Please pray that the conversation goes well. By the way, your son is so cute and it is so good that he knows about Jesus at that young of an age.

    • i just got back from d2s in columbus for my second time. it was awesome. this year i called two of my friends with the cell phone challenge and left a message with one and talked to the other about the gospel of Jesus Christ. i also took the double dare and i’m planning on following up on my phone call to my friend on monday at school. this year was really cool too because during the outreach thing this year, i really branched out more and talked to a few people about the love of Christ, which was awesome. plus, my youth group got reserved seats so that was pretty sweet. thanks for another great year of growing in faith.
      keep rocking for Jesus.

    • Hey! all my friends were there this weekend… and they even got front row seats for stellar cart! ok, I admit… I had a tough time NOT being jealous. I really wanted to be there. But I prayed for you all and as I just heard from all my friends that were there, it went great! Thats awesome! my friend called me when they were singing “me and jesus”, and it was really cool cause I tried to listen to them singing some other songs, but it all came through really staticy. But that song rang out loud and clear! it was amazing!
I’m hoping to be there next year!!!! Keep on!

I’ts too bad they weren’t selling the LOSER T-shirts from last year, i didn’t get one and they don’t even have it on the d2s store website.

    • hey greg,
after going to d2s my very first time this weekend, all i can say is wow. the very first night, when i raised my hand, and when i looked up at Nate, our youth leader, praying over us, i started bawling. it was so moving and so touching. tears streaming down my face and struggling to even breath, i felt God in me. see, in my deepest hearts of hearts, i considered myself a lukewarm Christian. but not anymore. walking out of that huge building after an amazing performance by Stellar Kart, (nice choice, by the way. they’re one of my favorite bands) i had this huge rush of excitment crash over me. there were no more tears, but this time, i couldn’t stop smiling. it was such an awesome expirence and i am so coming next year.

    • Greg,
You were so awsome at dare2share this year!! I was actually at the one in colmbus..and I just wanted to say that you totally inspired me to tell everyone I know about Jesus, and I couldnt of done that without your help, of your teaching and explaining about how great and awsome the Lord is!! And also I really enjoyed the cell phone challenge , because, my best friend Kari got saved right then, right there, that day! So it was a really wonderful experience that I could actually learn to spread and tell people about Jesus!!! I hope to see you again in columbus next year!!

    • Greg d2s was amazing i was horrified to do the cell phone but i was planning on callin one of my friends and as i scrolled down my contacts i thought of my moms boyfriendand so i called him and talkid for awhile and then we prayed and he accepted jesus christ as his lord and sacior and it was one of the most intense things i’ve ever experienced and then i went and i found out that he called my mom right after and was weeping and when i was talking to her about it and the entire time i was explaining it to her we were both crying out eyes out and then on sunday the kids from our youth group that went to d2s gave a testimony on one major experience they had and i shared about my experience with the cell phone change and it was amazing. i can’t believe how much one weekend can change my life in so many ways! i’ve never felt this fire and passion for my faith and i want to share it as much as possible. i am debating on wether or not to join my youth groups worship band because i am terribly affraid of audiences and i want u to pray for me to join it if its what god is calling me to do

    • Hey Greg! I just wanted to thak you and everybody involved in Dare2Share for a absolutely amazing weekend. It got me so pumped! I usually don’t feel comfortable talking in front of people, but when I got to school on Monday I asked if I could do Word of Mouth on Wednesday. ( Our school Bible study and message time) What I learned over the weekend was so helpful in preparing my message. I was so excited! I’m in study hall right now, and I am still shaking and covered with goose bumps. After D2S this weekend I have realized that what other people think of me doesn’t matter and never has. I am going to be a Jesus Freak and nobody can stop me. The only thing that matters anymore is Jesus and sharing His Love. Thank you for such an amazing weekend!
