Second: Don't know if you've ever spotted it, but iTunes lets you download free video podcasts from an organisation called "the resurgence" which have just uploaded two brilliant expository sermons by Dr Don Carson in which he goes through the doctrines of propitiation, and penal substitutionary atonement based on Paul's letter to the Romans and Revelation chapter 12, the alternative "Christmas Story". I mention it because Dr Carson really lays down the theological groundwork that contextualises evangelism. I saw the Penn video the other week there, and stuck it up on my bebo page (http://www.bebo.com/edgardeblieck) for the young people in our church to have a look at. It's amazing how many of them have been talking to me about it. Power to your elbow! ED... First up – happy new year!

When Christians don't know what they believe and why, and worse, don't seem to act any different from non-Christians, it's easy to understand why Penn Gillette can call "BS!" on Christianity. That's why it's critical for us to instruct. Since the summer we've had a 12-year-old girl living with us. Long story short, her relationship with her mother broke down completely and she became suicidal. We took her in on the condition that she and her mom would work to rebuild that relationship. Pretty rocky so far, though, but she now trusts me enough to ask me deep spiritual questions. Last night, we talked about talking to her friends about Jesus, what happens when you die, what faith without works means, why you can't be "good enough" to go to heaven, etc. The "S" in GOSPEL Journey was quite handy last night. This evening, I'm going to lend her my D2S "library," especially Venti Jesus, Please. She told me that sometimes she wants to grab her friends and yell at them to accept Jesus, but I told her that's the wrong approach -- and "here's how you can do it." She'll be coming with me Invincible in March in STL. Cheers! Great, great post, Greg.

That skew sometimes prohibits them from this kind of objectivity. Even Charles Darwin when asked if he had any doubts commented "of course I have doubts, who would completely trust the mind of a monkey". Caringly and lovingly sharing is the key.
