I wondered which movies I would choose if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to pick my top ten right on the spot. Here’s my mostly stream-of-consciousness picks.
1. Warrior (not to be confused with “The Warriors” which I enjoyed way back in the late 70′s)
2. Rocky (the 1st one…but I also liked 2, 3, skip, skip and the last one but, yo, the first was my fav!)
3. Sergeant York (you haven’t seen it but you should)
4. Braveheart (you’ve seen it too many times!)
5. The Passion of the Christ (enough said)
6. The Godfather 2 (I’m noticing violence as a theme in my movie picks…must be genetics)
7. A Walk in the Clouds (A Romance? Yes, but there’s fight scene!)
8. On the Waterfront (Marlon Brando at his very best)
9. Raiders of the Lost Ark (the first was the best and the last one had UFO’s…um, okay.)
10. Left Behind (just kiddin’…”Forrest Gump“)
Off the top of your head what would some of your favorite movies be?
I’ll throw in a few, some known and some randoms that people wouldn’t necessarily put even near their top 10.
Hoosiers… gotta love hitting the game winner coming off the picket fence!
Shawshank Redemption… wife hates false imprisonment themes, but I still love the movie.
Dan In Real Life… Love the character development and great movie to think about how you would actually witness to each person (trying to spiritualize, yep).
Fletch. I can quote most of this movie… from my pre-Christian days of course.
Sgt. York is a great pic! I would have to add Shawshank Redemption.
Kung pow: enter the fist. Stupid humor and highly quotable.
Greg,
My top 5 movies:
1. The Usual Suspects: a movie about deception and the lies of the devil. Know your enemy.
2. Life is Beautiful: a Holocaust movie about the love and sacrifice of a father for his family. Ring a bell.
3. The Godfather 1-2: hard for me to decide between Brando and De Niro but these movies are a mediation on “the family” and all families
4. The Matrix (Original): seems like a popular choice but it’s level of insight into the structures and processes of “the world” are still making me think about being “in, not of”
5. The Holy Grail (Monty Python): a reminder to not take Christianity (as an organized religion) too seriously. I’ve know a few pastors who just wanted their “shrubbery”.
Like most of what I’m seeing, but would add to the mix: Blackhawk Down, We Were Soldiers, and Remember the Titans.
BREAKING NEWS! I’m a current staff member at Teen Mania Ministries. Christian businessman, Philip Anschutz met with the board and Ron. If Ron steps down in August, he agreed to pay off Teen Mania’s debt and help the ministry moving forward. No word if Ron accepted the offer and will resign.

I would like to know why The Princess Bride is not on here. Or Back To The Future (1, 2, 3). Or Toy Story (1, 2, 3.) You’re forgetting the classics, man!
