    My September MAP

Posted on Monday 1 September 2008 by Greg @ 6:43 am
    Filed under: MAP and Rants

Are you following a MAP? If not I challenge you to take this challenge with me. What is a MAP? It is a Mobilization Action Plan. The goal of it is to revolutionize our lives so that we can revolutionize the lives of the teens in our world (our kids, our kids’ friends, our friends’ kids, nieces, nephews, teens we bump into in the foyers of our church every Sunday, etc.)

Every month I, along with a handful of others, am making a new commitment for that month in six areas. These commitments on my MAP can and probably will change from month to month. Why? Because I don’t want these to turn into a legalistic routine but to remain revolutionary and transformational in my life and the lives of the teens I impact!

What’s cool about this is that what I do at Dare 2 Share DOES NOT COUNT! That would be cheating. The teens I impact have to be outside of Dare 2 Share (church and neighborhood teens, etc.) Suffice it to say that this stuff is kicking my butt. And I invite you to invite it to kick yours as well.

If you are interested in joining me in the MAP quest click here and read the post, request a MAP and start going for it. Please feel free to keep me accountable on my six areas for the month of September. Also you can watch the 300 Strong podcasts for more information on what all of this stuff means.

If you are a youth leader why not invite all of your adult sponsors to do the MAP with you? You can all post your commitments on this site and hold each other accountable. Or this is something you can do with your Mens or Womens ministry, small group or Sunday school class. When you request a MAP you will also get immediately on the list to receive toolkits from Dare 2 Share to help you advance and improve in every one of the six areas!

Just like Gideon I am looking for 300 Strong. Will you join me and invite willing Christian adults you know to do the same?

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • Hi Greg,

Just wanted to say hi. Good to hear your rantings.
How is the family? I have some news to share about Brock that I think will encourage you, but I want to make sure this gets through to you first.

      • Greg,
Brock is now 12 and has been writing letters to professional athletic clubs for “fan freebies” and has received some cool stuff in return. He wanted to sign his letters of request “your brother in Christ”. I explained that that is a term used from one believer to another, but did not discourage it, so he went ahead and wrote his letter signed “YBiC”. Several weeks later he received his package with HIS letter enclosed, with “in Christ” circled with a big THANK YOU! next to it. Wow! We talked about how much that meant to someone, someone we will probably never know, but was either encouraged to consider or reconsider Christ because of Brock taking a stand. I was so excited and of course very proud in that moment. We talked about if everyone who knew Christ would stand up for Christ, it would change the world-something Brock has a desire to do! It was a teachable moment that I will never forget and prayerfully went deep for Brock too! Please pray for Brock as he is now inquiring about being an ambassador for the Boston Red Sox answering fan mail and hopefully reaching many more with the great news of Jesus!

        In the Vertical,

        Khonda

      • Hey Khonda, That is awesome! It’s hard to believe that Brock is 12 already…holy canoli! Tell him I’m proud of him (even though he probably doesn’t remember me!) Hope all is well with you all!

      • Hi Greg,
Count me in with the 300 strong. Today I was catching up on the podcasts and went for the 48 hour challenge. I felt God calling me to reach out to my sister that I have not talked to for years. We weren’t in a big family brawl or anything just lost touch. I found out that her family is going through alot of struggles right now. I tried to give her a call and did not get an answer. I have just finished writing to her telling her about the GOSPEL. Thank you for holding us youth workers accountable to practice what we preach.

      • Awesome Eric! I’m so pumped about this MAP thing. It has some potential to revolutionize the way we view and do youth ministry. I’ll pray for you as you reach out to your sister. Have you thought about writing a letter to her and then following that up with a meeting?
