John Musil is my hero!

On a plane ride back to Denver this week John Musil, one of our Dare 2 Share staff members, had a huge opportunity and he took it. He was sitting next to one of Barack Obama’s staff members (I’m not going to tell you who) and got into a spiritual conversation. For those of you have been living under a rock the Democratic National Convention had it’s big week here in the Mile High City. This Obama staff member was flying in for Barack’s official acceptance of his party’s candidacy for President.

This man had never known that salvation was by faith in Christ. He always thought that going to heaven was a matter of being good enough. According to John he was really intrigued at the idea of whether or not his name was written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. By the time the plane landed John asked him, “Would you like to trust in Jesus right now as your only hope of going to heaven and make sure your name is in the Book on that day?” He said yes right there.

This man told John that he was going to talk to Barack about their conversation. He wanted to make sure that his boss and friend, whom he deeply loved and respected, knew this good news. The last time John saw him he was at baggage claim talking to Barack on his cell phone.

I love the verse in Colossians 1:6, “All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth.”

Pray with me that the gospel bears fruit in the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign. At the end of the day it’s not the Democrats or Republicans or Libertarians or any other political party that is going to produce change in this country…it’s Jesus! I don’t want him as President of the United States. But I do want everyone to recognize Him for who He is, the King of presidents and Lord of politicians!

May we all take a cue from John Musil. Let’s all be faithful to share the good news with those God puts in our pathway. Whether it be president or pauper, king or kook, judge or jerk, white collar, blue collar or no collar, everyone every where needs to hear how to get their names in the Book of Life.

John Musil you rock…the vote.

Signed, Greg Stier

    • Hey Greg!

I wrote on your June 28th (creationfest) blog a while ago and I wasn’t sure if you received it since it was an older blog by the time I had commented on it. It was really long and I wanted to make sure you got it!

      Anyways that is all!

      In His everlasting grip,
      Kelsey

    • Yep, John’s my hero too! Not only did he recruit and then host two pretty major events for youth leaders in Columbus, but then went the extra mile to share the good news of Jesus on the plane ride home when he very easily could have been reading or resting! Thanks John… for going the extra “and then some” for D2S and for Jesus!!
