Jeremy’s gift has inspired another young donor

In my last post I talked about how my little boy Jeremy committed all the money he had saved to help Dare 2 Share in our time of financial need. This weekend he worked for hours cleaning (to make money to donate) and gathering stuff to be sold (so that the money raised could be donated).

To be honest his passion about this whole thing is blowing me away. You have to understand that this entire initiative was proposed and executed by him, not me. He is the one who keeps bringing it up. And the little guy won’t let it go. What I thought was originally going to be a few dollars has ballooned to $38.86, a fortune for a 1st Grader. And he’s given it all to D2S. I marched the money into the office this morning, a proud daddy.

He explained to me that what we did at Dare 2 Share was too important not to have the money we need. “Daddy, you need to train these teenagers to tell others about Jesus and I’ll help you get all the money you need to train them” has been his mantra in one way or another since Christmas day.

Yesterday after church he was telling his little buddy Christian about his decision to fund D2S. Now Christian (who is seven years old too) wants to be a monthly donor to D2S. He is going to set aside some of his allowance to fund the ministry.

In a way Jeremy is inspiring a micro giving revolution of sorts. It may not be huge amounts of money but those gifts represent a huge amount of heart. And a big heart, not the amount of the actual gift, is what grace giving is all about.

I’m inspired too Jeremy and Christian. With donors like you and God’s blessing we cannot fail.

    Viva La Revolution!

      • Hey! The donation thing kinda makes me wonder…is dare2share denver being held at the denver coliseum instead of the pepsi center for a reason this year?…and are there less cities being visited next year(7 instead of 9)?…is d2s really running out of money?

        Hey Haily,

We are definitely running a lot lighter than we should be at this time of year. It is as tight as it has been for awhile. But we are convinced the Lord will, as He has consistinently in the past, provide every dime and dollar we need to mobilize this generation for the gospel!

The reason we are moving out of the Pepsi Center is that for four years running we have not been able to fill it up completely. We can get the same amount of teenagers we have been getting at the PC (around 8,000 every year) into the Denver Coliseum and pretty much be a sold out event. We finally realized that having 8,000 or so in a place that seats 8,000 or so is much better than having 8,000 or so in a place that seats more than 11,000. The cool thing is that we can save tons of money every year by making the switch and we can use that money to reach more teenagers for Christ!

Thanks for your concern. Your prayers for this ministry will make a huge difference. God is up to something BIG and we believe that He will, as He always has, come through in a BIG way.

      • Greg, that is amazing that your son has that kind of passion. I love your statement above; “god is up to something big.” Have you ever herd the phrase “the players change but the game stays the same.” My point is this: What is so different about sharing the gospel today, than in Jesus’ time here on earth. I’m sure that the people back then had an equal amount of distractions that we do today. So I guess what I’m going for here is what is your opinion on this?
