Denver Conference starts today…YES!!!

Posted on Friday 9 November 2007 by Greg @ 9:15 am
Filed under: Rants

It’s been a crazy week and it’s going to culminate with an even crazier week-end. Tonight somewhere between 8,000-9,000 teenagers will gather together to rock the house with Lincoln Brewster, The Washington Projects, The Evangelism Linebacker, Insane Zane, the D2S drama troupe and yours truly.

Pray that God does something over the next two days at our training conference that will transform every student and equip them to spread that transformation back to their campuses and communities and neighborhoods.

Strap in…cause here we go!

Signed, Greg Stier

    • Greg,
I saw you speak at the NYWC in St. Louis this past weekend. After several months of a heavy heart with feeling there has to be something more to what I’m doing with these kids, and after a weekend at the convention being challenged with a lot of good questions your talk brought it all home for me. Jesus is central. Everything…my life and how we structure the ministry has to revolve around and point people to the cross.
I’m in Denver and really regretting not signing some of my kids up for Dare2Share now. Next year though definetly! Have an amazing weekend!!!

    • I just wanted to share with you that I am so thankful I was able to attend the conference again this year. I have never been this affected by any other conference and then I came Friday night and had what I only know to call a “Jesus moment”. I was sitting there praying after the skit and I broke down crying, everything that has happened recently just came upon me and I understood it all at once. My sister told me recently that even though it seems we have a long time on earth in this life it is really only a second of time. What are you going to do with your second? Will you use it? I have always known Christ as long as I can remember, I grew up in my faith. Friday night was the first time I asked God to come into my life and take full control, I didnt know what I was doing with my life and I was begining to see that I was wasting my second of time. I prayed for God to come into my life and show me the way lead me in this life. I felt only what I know to be the Spirit moving in me, it was as if God was waiting for me to ask and it was his sign of telling me that “I’m here and I’m ready to lead you.” I dont know where God plans to take my life but I know I’ve begun my journey and I’m ready to embrace what God has planned for me to do.

I just wanted to thank you for making this a great conference once again and I praise God for how it is changing youth around the community.
      Bod bless,
      Jillian

    • Greg honestly I didn’t want to be at D2S this weekend. I mean I did until 3 hours before we left Friday to head to Denver from Nebraska. I found out just about 3 hours before we left that someone had stolen $1500 from my checking account through PayPal. So on top of getting everything else ready for my students to come down I had to run around and deal with this whole thing. Ended up having to close my checking account and open a new one. Had to file paperwork and reports with the police. Man I was a wreck Friday night. I just couldn’t really focus on what was going on.

Then Saturday you gave your talk on paper and how it burns in the end. Man it hit me hard. Having just lost what I had it made me realize that I sometimes put money before God. It was like a light just went on for the first time.

Our students had a blast. WE spent our 3 hour van ride home talking about the weekend and strategizing how we can implement this and how i can help them stay faithful to the word they gave God in taking the Double Dare. They are freaked out but pumped up about sharing their faith now. They are even talking about some of their friends who are believers and recruiting them to take the Double Dare. I never once mentioned the X Factor. This is what I have dreamed of for a while now. Thanks for being so faithful to God’s call on your own life man.

To be honest, it’s pretty terrifying when you were talking about how Jesus is coming whether you’re ready or not. The whole time I could only think about how I wasn’t ready and I need to do make some changes in my life. If it weren’t for Dare2Share, I wouldn’t have this fiery passion in my heart to tell every single person I know about Jesus Christ. Thankyou so much to you and everyone else. If it’s not too much to ask can I ask you to pray for a friend of mine, he’s been like a brother to me for years. He sais he’s a christian, but I don’t know. He’s gotten into drugs it’s gotten so bad his parents sent him to his grand parents in california. please pray for him, he’s like a brother to me, and I feel like if he’s not a christian, I’m losing a younger brother! Looking forward to your next conferance.

I was at the Denver conference! And yes i was one of those girls screaming for Zane. First of all, I would like to say thank you so much for what you do. It was my second year going and I’ve cried for Jesus both times. You guys bring something out of me that no one else can. Anyway, the Sunday after D2S my pastor was talking about Jesus coming back and the rapture. I’ve heard of the rapture efore, but I still don’t quite get it. Is there somewhere in the Bible where it explains?

    • Wow, going to dare 2 share in denver has literally changed my life. I went in not really knowing a lot about Jesus, eventhough I am a christian, and I came out knowing that he lives inside me and wants me to live an eternity with him in heaven. I decided on Friday night that I was tired of fooling around and that I pledge alligence to Jesus and he’s the only one I pledge!:) Hearing what Greg had to say about Jesus made me think very hard over the weekend and I realize now that Jesus WANTS us to live an eternity with him in heaven. What everyone had to say literally took my breath away, expessially Zane’s story. Hearing about what Jesus had and has done in his life was incredible. I now know I am going to heaven with Jesus because I put my faith for him and everything he is and will be. When Jesus returns its gonna be awsome and I am gonna be ready! This was my first year to Dare2Share and I am so glad I came and learned about Jesus and what he’s done is our lives and will continue doing. You can count on seeing me there next year!

    • Dear Mr. Stier,
I was at Dare2share this weekend in Denver, CO and loved it! The messages that the speakers shared with us were incredible and to me very convicting. I realized how important it is to share my faith and I commited to taking the Double Dare! My only concern is the unbelivable amount of trash that we left behind. What kind of whitness is that to those who had to clean up after us? I was embarrassed and appaled! It seems to me that the last speaker each night could have asked for everyone’s assistance in cleaning up after themselves. We would never dream of going into someone’s home or church and trashing it the way we did the Pepsi Center.

Thanks for looking into this matter. I’m already looking forward to next year, and the chance to redeem ourselves!

    • Dear Greg,
Going to the conference in Denver truly changed my life! I went in there being a christian but still making terrible decisions about my life and really only acting like a christian at youth group and church i came out of there wanting to make great decisions. On Friday night i was a crying mess almost through the whole thing at least at the end during the drama and your last speech. I made the decision to trust in Jesus Christ and am proud to say that I am now going to be in heaven when i die! The drama terrified me and i think that that is exactly what i needed! A song that you might consider using that has changed my view point on jesus and i am sure that you probably know is “Only Hope”, it goes exactly with what you talked about. Saturday was also very inspirational. I loved when Derwin Grey spoke he was extremely funny. Zane was a kill he is soooooo fun! I think that he would be very fun to hang out with you are lucky to have both of them on your survive tour. Despite them being awesome speakers i would have to say that you were the one that impacted me the most because you made me understand the first night and that was the best thing that has ever happened to me! I got all of your books that were on sale and i am looking forward to reading them and studying the bible and becoming more involved in my church and youth groups. I can’t wait until next year we are already planning on bringing our entire Jr. High and High School youth groups to your conference. The music was great it wasn’t your average christian music which made it that much more enjoyable. Thank you very much for putting this conference on it was the lords timing that led me to this.

    • Hey Greg, Just wanted to say what a great time I had this weekend! I attended Dare 2 Share this weekend in Denver with my youthgroup from Majestic Baptist Church in Pueblo West, Co. It was so awesome and It made me realize that I shouldn’t be afraid to share my faith. I’ve gone to D2S the last 2 years and I think this year was the most powerful for me. I realized that I can share my faith cuz that’s what Jesus wants me to do and the last 2 years that I have done it it seems to not have effected me this way. It was just really amazing and I am planning on sharing the gospel with my friends so pray for me as I do that. I also had a question for you…. how do you guys choose who gets up in front of everyone and tells them about their outreach experience? Cause I really wanted to but I didn’t know how to do that will you email me and let me know? thanks Praying for you as you continue to do what you do! :) Christie

This weekend was absolutely AMAZING!!! that is honestly a dramatic understatement too. I went last year after being a real Christian for about 2 weeks (basically, i called myself a christian, but i’d never really accepted Christ and didn’t live it out at all) and it CHANGED MY LIFE! I was so excited this year, i started a countdown about a month before and on monday of last week, i printed it out and put it on the back of the hat I bought last year. Then, i had “TODAY’S THE DAY!!!” all around it. I came expecting to learn and have my life altered again, and you still never seize to amaze. My vocal cords may heal (i can barely talk today) but I’m hoping that the impact the conferece made on me will NEVER go away! i thank you sooooooo much for the experiences and hope to see you again next year!

      thank you

    • Greg,

I attended this conference myself for the first time as an “Adult Sponsor”. This was also my first adventure into working with youth in any kind-of formal fashion. I have two kids of my own but they are only 2 and 4. I’ve always wanted to help teens avoid the kinds of choices I made and the ideas and feelings I had when I lived in an abusive home that was also an Atheist home.

I could see clearly God moving through you and your crew this weekend and man — this is a big, “tough”, 30-year-old man who was shook completely to the core. These kids that I had the pleasure of working with this weekend are AMAZING. They are so much more incredible than any of the adults I’ve ever worked with. I have decided to be a Youth leader….. this in great part over the things that God worked through your program this weekend and from observing the great leadership of my home church’s Jesus-driven youth leader as well… this being the same Church where I opened my own heart to Jesus Christ only 2 years ago. I know this won’t be easy and it won’t come naturally to me and I believe that is the point. I truly believe he’s calling me for this and I’m giving it to him to show me the way.

I feel like you need to know that I won’t be giving up a custodian job for this… God gave me some unique skills despite my “rocky” childhood that allowed me to achieve fully up to a well-paid computer specialist/executive type of position. I’m fully “secure” in this job… but amazingly far from it in spirit. I’ve never felt like it was more important to do anything than this. I don’t care what I have to give up.

Thank you and God Bless You man! You are truly the anointed. When the enemy takes you to those dark places where you linger for a moment on the idea that you may not be “all that”… remember these kids that you have TRULY helped through Jesus Christ. They are his forgotten children in our society. You are anointed for this - and I pray to be as well.

I had the privilege of attending my first dare to share on Friday night. 3 of my children attended the entire weekend. What an amazing ministry! Thank you for all you do! My daughter and her friend had the amazing privilege of leading a girl to the Lord, my son and his friend had 5 people accept Christ on Saturday afternoon and my other son spent the afternoon cleaning an older woman’s yard for her. The son who helped lead 5 people to the Lord said it was such an amazing experience knowing that 5 more people would be in Heaven with him. He said it was not hard at all to do what the Lord had been asking him to do. Thank you so much for coming along side parents helping us to build the next generation of the Lord’s army. Dare to share is an awesome ministry and we so appreciate all you do!

But instead I felt almost weightless, it was this awesome feeling and I knew I finally found what God has been planning for me to do. So the first thing I did was right a Myspace bulletin to all my friends about D2S, the Gospel Journey, and how Jesus and I are totally here for them. Thank you for your guidance that has helped me and many in my youth group further our relationship with the Lord.

I was at the Denver confrence. my 3rd year. So for the past 2 years Dare 2 Share has been a bounceback time for me, you know, going like “yes! I’ll live for you Jesus!” but then a week later you’re all…”no.” So I decided that this time I would not be an intentional bunjee jumper Christian. i am taking the double dare. I’m so scared. Toss up a prayer for me if you get the chance. I also decided to surrender to God’s will even when I fail. Cuz I will. It’s not a probably, or a maybe. I will fail. But that won’t mean that I failed with my new decision because I have the sin virus and am not perfect.
But you have a huge effect on my life Greg you have no idea.
