Invincible Youth Ministry Conference Tour

Charlotte and Denver here we come!

Posted on Thursday 2 November 2006 by Greg @ 11:22 am
Filed under: Rants

This weekend and next we do back-to-back GameDay conferences in the wonderful city of Charlotte and, my fav city on this planet, Denver, Colorado (okay that’s was born, raised and continue to live. I once had a guy from Dallas want to "merge ministries" with me and he told me that, to do so, I would have to move to Dallas. My response was, "now why in the world would I want to do that?" His response was "because the cost of living is cheaper!" My response was, "It should be! Everyday I wake up I have a view of the Rocky Mountains. You should have to pay more to live in Colorado!" Needless to say, it didn’t work out. No offense to my Texan friends. I love you. Texans rock.)

But I digress. I am asking you to pray for these two events. Between the two we are hoping to train and equip well over 12,000 teenagers to know, live, share and own their faith in Jesus.

Pray for teens to bring their friends and an anticipation of transformation. Pray for youth leaders who weren’t planning to come to make last minute changes and bring hundreds if not thousands more. Pray for the conference team to be filled with God’s Spirit.

More than anything else pray for true and lasting revival to erupt and continue in the lives of these thousands of teenagers!

Charlotte and Denver here we come (Dallas, you may have to wait for awhile. But, in the meantime, praise God for the nice people you live around, good barbeque and the low cost of living. Yee Haa!)

Signed, Greg Stier

    •                          Hey Greg.  I love the fact that you are taking part in this Charolette trip.  I am so sad that I couldn’t come. :(  You see my friend Sara and I got into an argument before she left today.  She thinks that I like my new friend Laurie better than her because my jokes sound "too serious"  They are not mean just joking and they seem to scar her any way. :( I don’t say anything mean.  She just gets hurt to easily.  because she had been through so much I can’t leave her though.  What am I going to do because out of my Christian respect of her I still am so tired of her.  Please see if you can rant about this.  I NEED help. :) much appreciated.                     Much luv ^^                            sammi

    • hey!!  wow!!  I’ve been to D2S twice, and i love it!!  I always TRY to be the best christian i can be but, here lately after D2S this year i have done really good.  My sister’s boyfriend got in a fight and i love that kid he’s so nice to her and everything but, i heard all day at school yesterday oh he got beat down and just dumb comments like that.  I was sooooo mad, I was thinking BAD things about the school and the kids and everything but then i stopped in the hallway and said " dear God please, please forgive me for thinking that.  I apologize (idk if that’s spelled right).  Amen." And the halls were crowded but i had to i felt sooo bad after thinking that.  The skit thing that they had this year was INTENSE!!  It was a definite eye opener.  Well, it was EXCELLENT!  hope everybody that has gone or is going has fun! :)

    • It’s crazy to think that at this time on Friday and Saturday I was rocking out with 10,000 youth in the Pepsi Center. Thank you Greg and the entire Dare2Share team for bringing the G.O.S.P.E.L to Denver every year. My youth from Laurel, Montana absolutely adore you and have already started plugging for Dare2Share 2007!! You would think they would be tired after three nights of very little sleep and a 10 hour bus trip each way…nope they are still on FIRE and looking forward to next year! • Here I am, again, posting on another post on your blog. It’s addicting to read all of these comments and feel the same as all of the youth that have commented! I only wish I had "LifeTIVO" so I could experience every moment over again. The Denver D2S Experience Top 10 List (according to a poll taken by the Laurel United Methodist Youth):10. The bus trips; always an educational experience for a new youth leader. Especially with 44 youth and 5 chaperones for 10 hours and lots of energy drinks. I cannot stress enough the importance of headphones and a Jeremy Camp CD. 9. Waiting in line for the doors to open. We were the third group there and we actually had a "We Love Jesus" shouting match and a dance off. We also received our dinner (pizza) a nanosecond before the doors opened. We actually fed all 49 of us while entering the Pepsi Center. I was left at the door with two chaperones balancing 10 pizza boxes and a box of Capri Suns; that was a moment I certainly won’t forget!8. Getting floor seats the first night. We were so close we could see your (Greg’s) nose hairs. The kids were pumped to be so close that they were floating a foot off the ground (when they were jumping up and down to Starfield, of course). 7. Laying hands on our bus that broke down in Arvada when we were finished with our outreach mission. We actually prayed that the bus would be healed. I know someone took a picture of all 49 of us praying for the bus. Good news: by God’s Grace we had an aspiring diesel mechanic among our group who managed to jump the bus back to life. Cheers for a God moment!6. Our girls (30 total) will overwhelmingly admit that their favorite memories include meeting Starfield on Saturday night. Those guys signed every paper, CD, book, and out Squid Stick (the pole we hauled around to identify the group). All of my girls were screaming on the way out to the bus which was….embarrassing but cute. 5. The Drama. In their words: It was "chilling," "insightful," "awesome," "sweet," "scary but true," and my favorite comment was "dude."4. The outreach experience was amazing. We were all inducted into P.U. and had many doors slammed in our faces. The "WOW" moments came when we were introduced to a man who had just recently lost his niece and an Asian family who said they didn’t need prayers because they had been praying for us all day! If only some TV station hadn’t done a food drive earlier that day! We still came out with a lot of prayer requests and a lot of experience!3. The Cell-Phone Challenge. Out of our group 1/2 had their cell phone on Saturday night. They all made the calls and 3 were able to lead their friends Christ. One of my youth was actually told to "lead the way" because her friend was so inspired by my youth’s recent commitment to Christ. AWESOME CHALLENGE!2. Having their youth leader (me) projected on a big screen for all to see. I am personally honored and inspired by this and have a deeper understanding of my purpose as a youth leader. The youth were especially jazzed that I was crying onscreen and have made it their mission to thank me often in an effort to make me cry. My payday is watching them grow in their faith every single day. 1. Having three of our 45 youth commit their lives to Christ. No explanation needed here.THANKS AGAIN TO GREG, THE DARE 2 SHARE TEAM AND EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS WEEKEND A MOUNTAINTOP EXPERIENCE FOR ALL OF US AT LAUREL UMC!His love and mine, Janna Huhtala

    • hey greg! so this weekend was intense. i want to thank you so much for being inspirational and having faith in all the students. i took the 48 hour challenge and so far i havent heard from the person that i am trying to reach out to. i hope that i can get to him and that he will accept Jesus as his Lord and his Saviour. i also made the decision to live everyday as if it was judgement day. so far so good. preaching the Gospel to the neighborhoods of denver was easier then i thought it was. honestly i was extremely nervous but once i got out there it was easy and i wanted to keep going. there was one man whom we asked if he had any prayer requests and he had like 4 of them. he wanted us to stay there and pray for them with him, so we did, we were on his porch praying for like 10-15 minutes. it was truly amazing and touching. we did get turned down but that means there are more people that i can pray for:D so the worship was insane. starfield is a great band i loved how they got all of us to get all fired up and crazy. i loved seeing all the people lift their hands up, jump up and down and get fired up for Christ. His presence was there. i am looking forward to next year. God Bless, maxine glaser
