A podcast I did on hell

Posted on Thursday 20 March 2008 by Greg @ 6:13 am
Filed under: Rants

Not a pleasant subject. But I think the subject of hell is greatly underestimated in today’s climate of “all we need is love, love, love is all we need” gooey, chewy Christianity.

I think when we peer into the abyss, even for a moment, we are better for it. The blaze reminds us of Who is in charge and how much that Who hates sin. It also makes us grateful that the same God who lit the flames of hell with his hatred of evil also crushed his very own Son because of his love for us and desire to see us rescued from sin and it’s consequences. This sobering realization makes us worship God with a sense of reverance and awe.

To check out this controversial podcast click here and stare into the abyss along with me and the Dare 2 Share staff for a few minutes.

P.S. You also get to hear from Stephan from the original GOSPEL Journey. He popped into our chapel service and is excited about where his journey with Jesus is taking him!

P.S.S. Here is a link to a really good article on “Preaching hell to postmoderns” that I discovered.

Signed, Greg Stier

    • Yeah that was an awesome podcast. It was a real eye opener. and I used your gospel presentation with the wallet and stuff at Awana yesterday. Thank you so much for this pod-cast. Id always heard dont get saved for fire insurance. But thats one of the main reasons people accept Christ. It wasn’t exactly mine but all of us need to know the truth of hell. I wish all Christians could just see it for a minute. I mean thinking of my friends who dont know Jesus being tortured for eternity i cant really grasp it. But I know its real and I know my friends will go there if I dont tell them about Christ. Thank you so much Greg that was a great and powerful podcast. God bless

    • Saw the podcast and loved it. Good job. I like how you showed what Jesus said on the subject. In a country that’s full of “What would Jesus do?” bumper stickers and bracelets… I like that you take us to the Bible to see what Jesus said, did, and expects from us.

    • Excellent stuff, my friend. Talking about hell is not an easy thing. I onced sparred with an atheist who insisted that hell was created by parents to scare kids into being good, but only succeeded in giving them (i.e., him) nightmares. I never convinced him otherwise. (He’s of the “new atheist” variety, a la Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris.)

If I could contact him again and he’d be as open-minded as he claims, I’ll point “Ed” to this podcast.

Have a blessed Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday!
