I have been so discouraged with my students' apathy lately, especially for God's Word. They don't take it seriously. If Jesus would appear right in front of them and ask them what he asks in Luke 6:46- "Why do you call me Lord and don't do what I say?", I think their answer would be, "well, I don't really know what you say." I love the idea of going back to the basic doctrinal truths, like the trinity in this chapter, and discussing them with our students. But can anyone give ideas of practical ways to help students develop authentic "quiet times" with God?

Thanks Greg for your passion. It keeps a lot of us going.

Of course they like spirituality on their own terms. Most adults do too! The greatest challenge to me as a youth worker is to inspire the teens to open His Word. They must know what they believe personally, not by someone else. Many teens in my group have been taught by their parents to be involved in church, but they must discover the Truth for themselves. They really don't know what Truth is. Obeying is what makes it become real. Only when we apply it do we realize how real God is.

It is true most teens today are se;f centered. It is very important to tell us to share our faith and let us experience it.I don't think the average youth group does a lot of evangelism work.Mine sorta does and sorta does not.It is important for us to do theology so we can actually get a feel for sharing our faith.~becky~
