Maui Day 1 – The Adventure Begins

Posted on Thursday 18 May 2006 by Greg @ 10:46 am
    Filed under: Home Sweet Home

This morning started well in beautiful Maui. Right away Jeremy found the first clue to where Blackbeard’s treasure was hidden. It was conveniently left on our outside porch. Here’s how the first clue read:

    "Nut, nut, coco hut
Open up what now is shut.
Find the milk and drink it up.
See if you can handle that."

I asked Jeremy what he thought the clue meant. He said,

"I have to get the coconut daddy and drink the milk inside and get the clue."

    So the quest began.

It all started with some time swimming in the pool at the Embassy Suites we are staying at, going down the water slide a few times (or ten), renting some snorkel gear and heading to town for some shopping (sudden rain storms drove us from the beach to the mall, much to my wife’s good pleasure.)

But it was there that we found the special coconut. Jeremy took a big swig of the milk January 2006 170.jpg and then proceeded to break open the tropical fruit, nut (or whatever food group it falls into), somehow "magically" the second clue appeared. Jeremy reached into the broken brown husk and took out the crumpled piece of paper, asking me to read it. I obliged. The second clue read:

"To the beach and in the sand.
Go by the rock and you’ll feel grand.
On your way to finding treasure
Dig and dig with proper measure."

We hit the beach tomorrow. Who knows what we will discover? I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. It always is to bring a smile to my little boy’s face.

What’s the spiritual point to all this? I’m sure there is one. Have any guesses?

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • Coconuts are actually the world’s largest seed.  If you were to put a coconut in the ground, you could actually grow a coconut tree.  I learned that when I was there last fall.  Just an interesting fact.

      • "Seek and ye shall find" comes to mind immediately.  Our life is like a big huge treasurehunt, seeking the blesses God has for us when we practice obedience and follow His leadership (like finding the clues).  He leads us on our journey and I bet He even wants it to be an adventure.  Don’t you just know He enjoys it when we move quickly through what He has prepared for us, accepting it joyfully and with the blind faith of a child!  What a wonderful, wonderful act of fatherly love, both you and Him!   ;-)   B

      • I totally agree with Brenda up there. "Seek and ye shall find" is what comes to mind first. Either that or Maui sunshine makes you love God even more. Can’t wait for the tomorrow’s tale. L8r. Signing Off, Ashley
