    Jesus is my “Saver”

Posted on Tuesday 24 October 2006 by Greg @ 2:46 pm
    Filed under: God Moments

A few days ago as I was washing dishes my little boy struck up a spiritual conversation. He asked me about Jesus, going to heaven and such. He then said, "Daddy I trust in Jesus as my ‘Saver.’"

I was about to correct his inaccurate term and then I stopped. It struck me that what a Savior does is save. In other words a "Savior" is a "Saver"…a soul saver and life saver (chew on that for a while.)

Jesus has saved me from sin, hopelessness, despair, depression, hell and myself. He has saved me from all these and to so much more…righteousness, mission, community, love and God himself. All who believe in Him alone for salvation are saved from their sin. They are declared righteous in the courtroom of Christ and are adopted into the family of God.

So I have to ask you the question. Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saver?

If not, now is the time. If so, why not start spreading the word about the Saver of your soul?

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • Greg, can I up-sell here? Kacy, I have been going through two of Greg’s new books. One has broken my heart, and refreshed it as well. You can read that at my blog. The other has clearly laid out a "first-aid" manual for teens just like you to share your faith with a very large selections of students. It would even fit in your back pocket. I think you can get them in the D2S on-line store. Whatever you do remember that there is distinct difference between engaging conversation and arguing a point. And for all you youth worker types, "Ministry Mutiny" is a must read. Moves us beyond philosophy, and into a way of life. Thanks again Greg for your continued support and resources, we "in the trenches" appreciate it.

      • Hey Greg! I’m Amie and I just had to tell everyone that I was saved easter Sunday three years ago, I was 13 at the time and truely had no clue what was going on. I went to a play at my cousins church, we go every year so I knew the play and songs but when they got to the part where Jesus was brought in on the cross I started crying. Now I had not been to church in about 7 years so I had no idea why I was crying, then I thought to myself "He died for me, he went throught all that pain for me" So when the play ended they had a few minutes where you could walk down to the stage and a cast member would come pray with you. Well I walked down there with my mom, my cousin saw us and came to lead us in paryer. I still did not know what had happened untill another cast member a little bit older than me got on his knees next to me held out his hand and said "Welcome to the family of God". I remember dancing in the entrance hall because I felt so good. Anyway I’m going to D2S with my new church the 3rd and 4th I will be so glad to get there and see you! God Bless.

      • i didn’t know where to put this so i decide to put it here. ok i was planning to talk to my friend who’s muslim at lunch. while i was waiting in the gym my friend taylor asks what i was reading. i was reading the d2s field guide. i thought perfect opening to talk. so i start to talk to her about it. my muslim friend shows up and i start to talk to her too. when i was done talking to her she wanted to think so i let her. Taylor then says hey ask Robin the question. i’m thinking ok. so i ask my friend robin if she was positive that she was going to heaven. she said she didn’t know. when i was about to tell her the gospel the bell rang. Lunch was over but i said to robin that i want to talk to her after school.so after school i start to talk to her again. after roughly going over the gospel she started to talk to me about what she believed. it was mostly about the last days on earth. it was really confussing but i listened. When she was done i told her i would like her to read revalations. She owns a bible. i said i would read it too and we could discuss it tomorrow. While this was happen my friend Talyor came up with one of her friends and said she wants to know how to get to heaven. I’m thinking wow this is amazing. So i talked with her too. None of them have put there faith in christ but i’m definitly going to talk to them tomorrow so please pray for me.

      • Hey Greg!

My answer is yes. I have a question for you just like almost everyone else posting on this one:P The other day I was at school and I was trying to teach this girl about Jesus so I ask her to come sit by me. So she does and I start talking. Then my teacher comes up and starts yelling at us and makes us move. How do I avoid her doing that? Odd question maybe but..I was just wanting to know. Thanks a bunch Greg! Oh yeah..if you want to reply to my question by email then my email is malel_kabeck95@hotmail.com .

      • Hi im 16 years old, last night on july.30, i went to bed and i just came back from a 5 day wilderness camp about god. and before camp i came back from creation fest. so i went to bed and at this camp i’ve had a crush on this girl, i’ve bin praying about if i should get together with her, so last night i prayed and i asked god if she is the rite one, then i was silent and i just listened, for about 30 seconds i was quite and i didn’t think about anything, then clearer than ever 1 corithians 7.8 popped in my head, so i got out of bed and opened my bible to that verse. it says” here is my advicefor people who have neverbeen married and for widows. you should stay single, just as I am.” then i read on to verse9 ” but if you don’t have enough selfcontrol, then go ahead and get married. After all, it is better to marry than to burn with lust.” You can’t say that god wasn’t talking tome. Before creation fest i was at camp for 3 weeks and for two of those weeks, every thursdaywe had a lighting storm, the second weekall the campers and staff were in the gym. then bang, lighting hit a tree 15 feet away from the gym, that shows how powerful god is. he kept us safe. and when i was coming home on the bus from the 3 weeks, i looked out of the bus, up in the sky, two airplanes were crossing paths and madea cross in the sky ? and it didnt look kind of likea cross, iwas forsure it was a cross. wow! god has shown himselfto me so much this month. Today on July.31 i realized i want to be a speaker and talk about god to many people, and to share the gospel. GOD IS REAL !

      • Hi Greg!
Our Youth Group is starting your book, “You’re Next” on Sunday mornings! We are so excited. I know when I am talking to folks about Christ as their “Saver,” they often want to know what they are being saved from. I always starts back in Genesis and how sin entered into the world. And, the fact that we are saved from God’s wrath, that Jesus took on all of our sin and suffered God’s wrath in our place seems to resonate with people. And, as you say, we are saved from sin and to a righteous life with God! But, we can’t forget what we are foremost saved from: God’s wrath.

      • God has saved my soul and set me free! I have naver believed in the “Holy Spirit” untill June 22nd of 2009. When I was hopeless and didn’t know what to do. i could’nt feel myself nor feel anyone else. i did’nt know what to do. It was like i was stuck in a different world by myself. The funny thing was i tryed to cry but i could’nt even cry. There was no way to get out of there, there was no life, no feeling, no nothing. No point of keeping your flesh and living on without a soul. Suffiering for eternity! Then i did something i never thought i would ever do! i went to my sister’s house “who is a big Christen!”, and she started praying for me and praying for me. I started crying and crying, like i had never before and i could feel the “Holy Spirit” and i could understand!
