    Thoughts Revolving Around the Revolution

Posted on Monday 24 April 2006 by Greg @ 12:07 pm
    Filed under: Conferences

Wow. It’s hard to believe that the revolution tour is over. It went so quick. What started as a concept on paper just last year ended up being a flow blown training production and then bang…it’s done.

What’s not done is the real revolution, the day-to-day revolution in the mud and blood of the battlefield that thousands of youth leaders and students are carrying on in their youth groups as a result of God’s work in their lives through the truths they learned and applied during this conference season.

God gets all the glory for all the souls saved, teens trained and lives changed.

Out of all the training tours we have done at Dare 2 Share I think that the Revolution tour is my new favorite. The plot of the weekend centered around my favorite Old Testament story, David and Goliath. The lessons in this simple passage of Scripture gave students and youth leaders alike the tools they needed to face their giants with courage and strength.

I won’t forget the teens I met in the Twin Cities, Charlotte, Denver, Columbus, Lincoln, Seattle, Atlanta, Phoenix, St.Louis and Houston. May the revolution continue in your hearts, your youth groups and your campuses. Face your giants with courage. Swing your sling and watch what God can and will do.

But I have to go for now. It’s time to lace up my cleats, put on my jersey and strap on my helmet. It’s time to get ready for the brand new Game Day Tour coming from Dare 2 Share starting in September.

    Game on.

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • Got the promo DVD for Gameday last week!  Awsome.  I love the shorter promo videos.  They will be nice little snippits to keep the teens thinking about it.  Greg’s 22 minute session on the DVD is a great!  It really gives me something to share with my youth workers to keep us on the same sheet of music.  What skills you have to be able to draw and write all of that stuff backwards!  Or maybe not???  Awsome Promo DVD!!!

We look forward to bringing our youth to GameDay in St. Louis. Our youth today need as much love and encouragement as they can so that they may share Christ courageously. Thanks for helping lead the charge. Zac

      • Greg!  Welcome to the blogging thing man.  I just started a blog site myself on blogger.com.  I must confess that I haven’t been very successful yet.  I began because an old friend of mine has a blog and he and his circle are the angry types you refered to in your first post.  They run a blog called "Stupid Church People" to give you an idea.  I started up to counter that anti-church attitude, but I must admit, I’m not as smart as those guys.  They know so much about postmodernism and psychology it makes me dizzy.  After posting what I thought was common sense I was slapped around a bit.  I have conluded that someone could really get caught up in this stuff and I have a youth ministry to run.  Anyway, you are an inspiration to us.  We loved the Revolution conference in Phoenix (as well as the previous 2 we’ve been at).  We could only come on Friday night, but it was magnificent!  My wife and I brought 5 student leaders with us.  Thanks for all your hard work! -James Brown, Youth Pastor at Chandler First Assembly of God, Chandler, AZ

      • My life was changed at D2S in Seattle. I was actually not even looking forward to going. I had some tennis stuff going on and I was like, "Aww man. I have to sit in a small little van with 14 other people smashed in with me. Plus I have to be in there for 8 or more hours straight. Then when I get there I’m going to have some boring preacher shove a bunch of info down my throat that I’ve heard a million other times." Well when we got there we were 5 hours too early. So we played on the playground in the park. (Aren’t we mature?) We came back to the church and was again too early. So we just waited in line. When we went in we got pretty good seats and we hung out and looked and shopped. Finally it started and first of all I was blown away by the worship. Then you come out, Greg, and start telling jokes about your Loser friends. (and you aren’t a boring preacher) I was like, "Wow. I might have a great time." Next thing I know. I am. So I heard Jim’s story and I realized how much of a poser I was. By the time you start talking to us about the circle of revoulution I was crying so hard. Life changing tears. Saturday I learn the G.O.S.P.E.L. and I go out and graduate from P.U. I go home and do the 48 hour challange. (She hasn’t accepted yet, but with God’s help…Who knows?) We’ve started up the e-team and I’m a webcaster. (Obviously since I’m like, always commenting on your things and am constantly looking at the websites that you have above) I would just like to say thank you Greg. Thank you for helping God lead this lost sheep back to Him. Thank you for helping our youth group fall back in love with God. Thank you for training us and my Youth Leader. (Bob Peirce. Who is awesome by the way.) And thank you for putting the Napoleon Dynamite dance on here so that even in my worst mood I can laugh at…I mean with…you. L8r. Signing Off, Ashley

      • Greg, I just want to say Thank You!  Thank you for letting God use you and all the others involved with Dare2Share.  I was able to bring 4 teens to the Revolution in Columbus and that weekend has truly "revolutionized" our youth ministry.  Since the conference, we have seen those 4 teens sell out to the youth ministry and to evangelism…19 teens put their faith in Christ…and we even started an "Engage Ministy" to the parents of our teens.  You may never understand how much you and your ministry have blessed me and the teens here in Cincinnati!  We are counting down the days until Gameday.  THANK YOU!!!  Brad

      • Hey, just wanted to say thanx so much for all you have done for me and all the other teens in this country!!! I live in MO, but went to Lincoln for the D2S tour. Previous to the conference, I was having lots of trouble with my ‘giant’. I also was having serious doubts on whether I was a true Christian, and how I could know I was. I was hoping that when I went to Lincoln all my doubts would be answered. Whenever I went to a Christian camp, or listened to some speaker on the radio, or read in some magazine and they asked if you died right then, if you knew u were going to be saved and yada yada yada, and to pray the prayer right then. I did, every single time, feeling convicted in some way. But then, later, I would get the same doubts all over again!!! When I was at the conference, I re dedicated my life to Christ, I was a major poser, and for the first time (I think) I totally felt God’s presence, it was so AWESOME I don’t have words to describe the feeling. I have gotten over my Giant, well, atleast one of them, that was really puloing me down. It was one that I was sure no one else around me went through – I would cheat. I was homeschooled so it was easy for me to access the answer keys. It really just started from procrastinating. I still have a problem with that, but no more cheating for me!!! D2S has dirasticly changed my life. I still get those doubts, and if any one has any suggestions for me, that would be greatly appreciated. Well, I forgot to mention, I tried getting over my ‘giant’ before, but I couldn’t, I was doing it on my own, no one can do ANYTHING without totally dependency upon Christ, that is a lesson I have learned and am still learning!!! Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR IMPACTING MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER TEENS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND AROUND THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx!

      • I will have to of course agree with everyone else and comment on how awesome the Revolution tour was.  I had another youth leader in our town about dare 2 share but she didn’t seem very interested.  I started to pray for God to give me something to show her how awesome your ministry is.  I then attended the E-team training in Leawood KS and got the game day dvd.  I know this is going to get her excited. I made a commitment along with my 48 hour challenge to  make sure the pershing center in Lincoln wouldn’t be big enough next year because I had told so many Youth and Youth leaders about dare 2 share.  It’s awesome how God will bless us when we work for him.  Right now I think we will have three or four time as many youth with us next year and I still have a lot of time to work before Lincoln.  Watch out everybody!!!  Were gonna come fired up and ready for GAMEDAY!!!

      • Hey Greg! Wow, I forgot about the Revolution. Okay I haven’t really fogtten about it, because I had such an amazing time that weekend that it would be impossible to forget! I guess I just put it in the back of my mind. I am a little ashamed that I haven’t done much to carry on the Revolution at my school. I guess it’s just a little scary to think about sharing the Gospel at my school where, let’s just say not everyone is very accepting of something so life altering. Really all that’s known at my school by the majority of teens there are drugs, alcohol, and how to party the hardest and hook-up with the most people possible in one night. I remember you sharing the story of David and Goliath, and now I feel I need to do my duty and defeat my Giants at school. Thanks for your encouragement, I will try to keep in mind the stroy of David and Goliath as I march into the "no God zone", otherwise known as my high school! Thanks for all you’ve done to make Dare2Share such a hit. I can’t wait ’til GAMEDAY…. -Jenna

      • Greg, I continue to fall in love with your organization and it’s conferences for my youth.  What I think is quite funny is when we evangelize on Saturday my youth are disappointed if they do not graduate from PU.  They jump in the van speaking in a sad tone,"Man, that was another Christian."  Of course I encourage them to thank God for them. I love how you guys make my guys take the chance and not feel bad about not seeing the results they expect.  I know can make them see how God’s results are sometimes different and so is His timing.  Thanks to your staff for the prayers and support. • oh my goodness! dare 2 share houston was AMAZING! it was definately worth the 4 hour drive down there from dallas. it also really got the people from my youth group that went and my youth leaders pumped about the upcoming summer. me and some of my friends at my school, after hearing a story about a kid from Keller Highschool, have decided to start praying every friday before school for God to start a revival within our school. the kd from keller just all of a sudden decided to start praying once a week for his school and then more of his friends joined him and before they knew kids were getting saved throughout the school. the students that prayed became more bold to share Christ with their friends. actually this one girl was talking to her friend in class one day and the when the teacher asked her why they were talking, she stood up in front of the whole class and presented the gospel. the amazing thing is that after she was done, 3 kids in the back had been crying and ended up becoming saved right then and there. it just goes to show that just like david, God uses even the young to spread His love. the whole time i was at dare 2 share and was being taught about david, i kept thinking of one verse in timothy: "Do not let others look down on you because you are young, but set and example for the believers in life, in love, in faith and in purity." – 1 Timothy 4:12. so do God a favor and don’t underestimate Him, just like He never has underestimated what He can do through you.

      • Hey guys, WOW I think that is incredibly AWESOME dreamer08! The Revolution is here and its now!! Ironically, right after the D2S conference in Houston, I went back to school and we started studying about the French Revolution! I got excited and actually paid attention for once! (well Greg, you helped me learn how to share the gospel but also how to listen to the History teacher!! lol) We were reading about how people in France were tired about the same-old stuff…The monarchies, the ridiculous rules, and the mediocrecy of the government. So you know what they did? The rebelled. The formed a revolution and completely changed the way their world was living! That is EXACTLY what our generation of Christians need to do! The definition of revolution is: complete, drastic and usually far-reaching change in ideas, social habits, or ways of doing things. Guys, Lets ROCK this city, nation, WORLD! Starfield’s song Revolution says we are a FIRE! Lets ignite, lets burn, lets set a BLAZE this world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Are you with me? I’m ready, and I’ve got FAITH, even if its as small as a tiny mustard seed. You know what? You have trained about 3,000 teens how to share this gift we’ve been given. Our youth group was heart-broken when we discovered D2S was taking a break from Houston for a while, and for a little bit, me and my friend were trying to think of the nearest possible city for us to drive to. Then I thought, Yeah Dare2Share is amazing, but I’m missing the point. Their job is to teach me how to do what they’re doing, so I can go out and do it too! It was like a moment of understanding just hit me like a train! The Revolution isn’t in just the conference. Its in you, its in me, its in ALL of us. We’ve been trained well, by some of the best leaders God could find, and now Its OUR turn. Lets unite into and Army of losers…lets take up our cross…Lets GO, FIGHT, WIN. Their lives are at stake, are you ready?

We walked into Reliant Stadium and I see thousands apon thousands of other Christians already feeling the Holy Spirit move through me. We walked to the back far side of the stadium looking at the stage and you guys started with the song "Jesus Freak"! I was suddenly jumping up and down yelling the lyrics! After a little bit you guys were starting the drama and… It was AMAZING!!! I couldn’t believe by the end of the week how much God had worked through me, molding me, changing me to start a revolution in my small town! I walked up to my youth pastor asking him if he had the address to your guy’s website. I found the message board and I just looked at all of the conversations of Christians and Athiests! I quickly enroled and got set… We are starting a revolution!!!
