    Show me St. Louis

Posted on Friday 27 March 2009 by Greg @ 10:09 am
    Filed under: Conferences

I am within rock throwing distance to the St. Louis Arch (no I didn’t, but I thought about it) and our Dare 2 Share team is doing final preparations for the training conference tonight and tomorrow. I can’t wait. It is going to be, God willing, a catalytic and transformational weekend for thousands of teenagers and hundreds of churches.

I really like this city. Why? Several reasons: I have family here, the Arch is cool and the food is very good. It is home to our largest regional conference for the last few years (sorry Denver…you’re slacking!) But more than anything I love this city, not just becasue of the quantity of people but the quality of people who attend. People call Missouri “The Show Me State.” And the people here have definitely shown me that they are serious about the advancement of the gospel of Jesus through an army of teenagers.

Can’t help but reflect back to the Fall of 1997 when we had 241 teenagers at North County Community Church right here. Just a tad over eleven years later we are expecting between 8-9,000 teenagers. How have these events grown? It’s not because of our “huge” marketing budget I assure you. These events have grown from youth leaders, teenagers and donors showing others the vision and mission of Dare 2 Share. This event has EXPLODED through word of mouth!

Thank you St. Louis for showing me, once again, that you are serious about mobilizing the next generation to relationally and relentlessly reach their generation for Christ!

    Signed, Greg Stier

      • I say again, I wish I could be there! Dare2Share is always one of my highlights of the year! Im going to be praying for the D2S team, and all the teenagers that are going to be going out and witnessing, including my own youth group (fbc st charles, I believe you’re friends with my youth pastor Dan). I will be praying that many of the teenagers become christians, and make decisions to share the Gospel with everyone they know! I’m currently trying to witness to a few people, and I never would have been able to find the courage to witness to them if it wasnt for D2S. Thank you Greg! I’ll hopefully see you next year in STL!! :)

        In Christ,
        Hannah

It’s crazy, but I’m in St. Louis for a haunted house trade show. I saw a bunch if kids filling the America’s Center and guessed it had to be Dare 2 Share time. If you have an extra moment, it would be great to catch up.

        Take care!

      • Hey Greg just wanted to say that tonight was good. God’s presence was very real tonight during your preaching tonight. I say preaching instead of speaking, because it was that powerful. Your passion shone through tonight and I pray that many lives were changed because of what was said. Get some rest and look forward to tomorrow, God Bless Bro.

      • I didn’t go, but I lived in Missouri for the first 12 years of my life, and throughout that I met many people who 100% serious about God. I had a blast in Lincoln and can’t wait until next year, because we are trying to get to go to the Denver one, even though St. Louis is closer… :D

Ever since the conference I have helped two people come to Christ, one of which was very unsure of Christ and His way. But with a little persuasion, hint dropping, and a lot of help from the GOSPEL, I managed to get her to go to a meeting. She loved it, and can’t wait until Wednesdays now. My other person happens to be my brother, and he has never had so much fun at a meeting than he did then. I am glad that God has helped me move on from my major road block earlier this month, and I am ready to start preaching some more to my friends, who need my help the most.

I am fairly sure that without attending you conference I would probably still be going on a rocky path with Jesus, and only half committing myself. Thanks for hosting an awesome event, and opening my eyes to the reality that we call life!

      • As a youth leader, it was so encouraging to see my kids develop a passion for evangelism. One of my kids went door to door last night sharing the Gospel. We love everything Dare 2 Share represents. I can remember how it changed my life as a teen only a couple of years ago. We talked about the Gospel Journey Maui to our church, and the whole congregation is on board. Many adults who do not have kids in the youth are going to attend the discussion. Greg, thank you for all you do and your willingness to follow Christ.

      • Hey Greg, I just wanted to say hi. I went to the St. Louis Dare2Share last year and this year, and I was once again blown away.

One of my friends who came, she re-accepted Christ into her life. She had been a Christian, but strayed off the path, and she realized that when she witnessed everything at d2s. She told us on the bus ride home that she re-accepted Him. (is that even a word?) ANd I wanted to give you a web address, that if you haven’t got already, I think you might enjoy.

It’s a compilation of scripture verses into a love letter from God.

I was touched by this, and I hope you enjoy it too.

We are so shredding the gnar out here in Piedmont, MO! We have been meeting before school every day to sing and pray. I’m a homeschooler so I have to meet them there but it gets us all pumped for the day. So far everyone has graduated from PU but we’ve also been able to bring two people to Christ! The awesome thing is, these people approched us! I really hope we can come to Blaze but pray for us down here. We are so tired of jumper cables.

      • We took our youth to the Dare 2 Share in St. Louis. Amazed. It was a week ago and our youth is still talking about everything and witnessing to their friends. Is there anywhere that we can find the skits that you all did? The teens are already planning for the next youth rally, and even a missions trip. If so could you please let me know! They really liked the duel with bible verses and the mirror one. Thank you so much!
