Calling all who took the Double Dare in Denver!

Posted on Monday 12 November 2007 by Greg @ 9:26 am
Filed under: Conferences

The Survive Conference rocked the Pepsi Center last weekend! Somewhere around 9,000 teenagers and adults filled this sports venue with the screams, chants and excitement that would rival any Avs or Nuggets game!

Results? A late night recount on Saturday night confirmed 20 tons of canned food collected for the Denver Rescue Mission, 500 trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior on Friday night and at least 70% of the attendees took the Dare 2 Share Double Dare (to share Jesus with everyone you know in God’s timing, in God’s power and with God’s love and to start with one person within the next 48 hours!) So I have to ask all those who took the Double Dare to share your Double Dare story! Let me know about someone you know who you got to share the good news of Jesus with after the conference!

For those of you who haven’t taken the Double Dare yet go to www.doubledare.org and take it right now. If you don’t know how to share the gospel you can watch a 30 minute podcast there of me training you how to share your faith!

If you have taken the Double Dare make sure you go there and forward the dare to a friend or, better yet, to ALL your Christian friends!!!

I triple dog dare you!!!

Signed, Greg Stier

I was so sad that it was over and wished that it could happen every weekend. But I remembered that you also had lives and families to go to. I rededicated my life to Christ aand have brought someone else to Christ and am staying commited to the double dare. Ilove you Greg, Zane, and Derwin!!

    • I took the dare and God has filled me with, not courage, but determination. I have dared two other people to start sharing their faith. I’ve begun a conversation with my best friend about salvation. I’ve asked my Grandpa where he thinks he’s going when he dies and I’m waiting for his reply. God is not only working in the lives of these people but in my life as well. Praise God for all that He’s doing!

    • Hey Greg…Great job again…I was one of those “Chapperone Heros” who drove the yoots…I also team-teach our Sunday school for our Jr. Highers…I also stood for the “Double Dare,” and on Sunday, I showed my students a picture of my brother who is not a believer…I asked the kids if they would be willing to adopt him, with me, to tell him about Christ…They agreed, and our first action will be for all of us to each write a personal note to him in the conference training manual, to tell him why we believe, and send it to him…I’ll keep you posted on how it goes…

Also, one other suggestion…Keep the Christian role models coming at the conferences…They’re very important as these kids really appreciate modern, larger than life heros of the faith…We had a 9th grader and an 11th grader accept Christ in our group, and it was directly related to their identificaton w/the Evangelistic Linebacker! Boooyah! If they don’t accept Christ, chop ‘em in the neck!

This was my 4th conference attending with my daughters…Keep up the good works…God bless you, and your ministry team.

    • Hey, Greg!
AWESOME weekend! I have taken your Double Dare! I actually took it 2 years ago before I knew what it was. Our Holy Spirit Convicted (that Dude never ‘Suggests’, He ALWAYS Hammers me to the point of Conviction)me during the Lenten season then to share Jesus Christ with everyone I possible could during those 40(+) days! I have never been so on fire for Jesus Christ as when I make it a conscious effort to find a way to share His Good News.
I had the privilege of sharing Jesus Christ with a lady named Deb outside a Dairy Queen in Lakewood Saturday afternoon about 5:30 where we stopped for ice cream dinner. I was driving the bus so I was the last one to approach the entrance door. She was sitting on a bench outside enjoying her vanilla cone (yummmmmmm…) and we exchanged greetings and talked about how awesome it is to enjoy an ice cream cone outside in Colorado in November in the evening! Our Spirit asked her if she knew she was going to Heaven when she leaves this place. She is a professed believer in metaphysics, having evolved from a Protestant childhood to Catholic conversion in her first marriage. We had a great conversation about religion compared to relationships and when she stated that her current husband is an atheist scientist (not a Christian Scientist), God said ‘Venti Jesus, Please’!! I told her I had an incredible book that is a quick read that HAD to be written for her and her husband. I retrieved one of your VJP’s and that is how the first of twenty was given away, Greg. Please pray for Deb and her husband, guys. Always and Because of Him…. Will
PS - The only way it could have been more perfect would have been to be at a Starbuck’s!!

Many of my teens’ lives were changed forever this weekend. There were a couple new committments and many RE-committments to Christ. We’re going to spend next Sunday talking more about the Double Dare and I am praying for my committment to the dare.

Dare 2 Share Denver was just outrageous this year! I know there are many hands that carried it and nurtured it so please send all of those amazing people my deepest thanks and praise.

Like I told you on Friday night: Keep your chin up! You are affecting people in an awesome and powerful way for the KINGDOM! I know because I personally saw the flames of the spirit spread through my youth group this weekend. Here’s to the fire that burns in all of us — CHEERS!

      His love and mine,
      Janna
PS: I brought a friend of mine (another youth leader) to Dare 2 Share this year and he is committed to bringing his youth next year. Before you know it you all are going to HAVE to have a Dare 2 Share in Montana. :)

Just read ‘Venti Jesus Please’ on my lunch hour. Kudos, buddy! Tears were streaming as I recall what He has done for us through your book! It made me clearly remember the day I received His Grace and trusted in Him Alone for my salvation! Gave another one to my secretary for her to read and pass on to her sons. Ten are reserved for the kids that attended Survive. Guess I’ll have to order more -:) ‘You’re Next’ is next…

Also I took the double dare and talked my science partner and we had a really long talk because he said that he could never get into heaven because he brook the ten commandments I told how people can do bad things and still get into heaven but he kept insisting that he had broken honoring your father and mother so bad he finally told me why and this is his story “until 2 years ago he lived in an abusive family and his dad rapped his sister he finally got so mad because his dad was hitting and threatening to kill his mom, so he went and got a shovel and beat his father with it his dad ended up having to get 25 stitches on his face, 4 broken ribs, and and a broken wrist.” he said that God could never forgive someone who had done that to his dad, then he told me that when he told the police what had happened his dad got a life sentence in jail. I am praying for him and it is so hard to know about that and i will try to keep witnessing to him but he is moving next year. The other guy I talked to also says god will never forgive him because he drinks and does drugs and hr is only in 8th grade I get to talk to him a lot because our seats are next to each other in every class.

This weekend was really great! On Friday I re-dedicated my life to God and I truly want to live for Him. I also took the double dare and today I talked to two friends at school about God. They both were pretty skeptical and did not end up believing in him. Please pray for them and for others who don’t know God. I will continue to talk to them about God. I’m also curious about where to get more information about sharing the Gospel. One of the guys I talked to was a Jew, and I ran out of things to say to convince him about Jesus. Thank You soooo much for the amazing weekend. Keep up the Good work and God Bless.

It made me realise that i shouldn’t worry about petty things, but instead I should invest my time, enegery, effort and prayers in things that would further God’s kingdom. I personally took the double dare, and it has peen WONDERFUL!! I want to thank you for the confrence because it has changed my life, adn the lives of so many others, if they went to it or not.

    • My Youth Group and I drove to Denver from Salt Lake City this past weekend and it was just as amazing as last year (if not more so). Lincoln Brewster and Stellar Kart both rocked (and loss of voice ensued), the messages were great, and the overall environment was really cool (although it’d be great if people could come up with something a little more original than FREE HUGS lol). On Friday night especially your message really hit me, and that night I made the decision to pledge my allegiance to Christ. I’ve realized that been spending too much time trying to do it all on my own and with those tactics I have not been all too successful, so I’ve decided that I will do everything for the glory of God and will let him help me be all that I can.

On saturday when you challenged us to call one friend and share the Gospel with them I called my friend Patrick. Patrick is a good example for what my core group of friends at school is like: he was once Mormon but after he lost his Grandfather he was dissatisfied with the LDS description of Christ and their solution for him. So he fell away from Mormonism and is now agnostic. His style is enough to scare away the more judgmental people at the school (i.e. trip pants, gages, combat boots, long black hair, and band shirts) but if you actually take the time to get to know him he is one of the coolest people you’ll meet. He is very smart and will actively listen to you and tell you his honest opinions on anything. So anyway I called him and by nothing short of a miracle the battery in my cell phone survived until literally the last word of my explanation of the Gospel. He sounded genuinely interested in what I had to say. So for the Double Dare challenge I followed up on my conversation with Patrick at school today and we had a really good discussion about it (of course this conversation was long enough to require the use of illegal texting during class, but I suppose breaking a district rule can be justified by attempting to save my friend’s spirit XD). At the outcome of this discussion Patrick said that what I was saying made a whole lot of sense but he’s not sure if he’s ready to make that kind of decision yet. So please pray for Patrick, and that God (in His timing) would be able to get through to him and show him how much he really needs Jesus in his life.

Thank you for all that you do in the name of Jesus Christ, and I look forward to seeing you in Denver next year.

      God Bless
      –David

P.S. if by any chance you get to meet to a girl by the name of Johanna Willet in Pheonix in February, tell her hi for me.

    • I totally took this double dare. I really don’t know many people because I live in a teeny town, but there are hardly any Christians at the same time, so it was easy and hard. I was super scared about the telling someone in the next 48 hours, and for me since it took us like 12 hours to get home it was pretty much just one day… I feel sorry for the people from Korea, do they have to like just tell someone random on the plane? My sister is homeschooled, I used to be but decided to come to public school, so me and my 2 friends, they only other Christian girls in my grade, have started to try to bring more workers to the harvest. So I talked to a few people…even though it was really hard, but so far I haven’t gotten any luck YET. Since my sister is homeschooled, we were at wal-mart today and I so tried to talk her into just starting a conversation with someone random. But she was too shy, plus we were just leaving, but d2s was amazing! I feel so important and brave, there’s no way I would ever let it just be a thing that would get me stoked for about a week and then I’d forget, no I’m going for long term and helping everyone I know.

I didn’t get to meet you while i was ate D2S in Denver, but my dad is Dick Seymour. He is now teaching at Frontier School of the Bible and has been for the past 7 years in LaGrange Wyoming which is about 2 and a half hours from Denver. I was so challenged by the conference last weekend, and also by the Gosple Journey(my youth group went through it together)! I posted my 48 hour story on the other website. I just wanted to thank and to let you know that you have had a powerful impact on my life, and on the lives of many others. I have struggled with depression before now,but i had been feeling so hopeless and despairing resently(we think the reason that it came on again so suddenly is because of my low blood sugar). Jesus is what gets me out of bed in the morning, and He is what gets me through the day so that i can collapse into bed again at night. I got saved when i was 3 and dedicated my life to serve Jesus Christ fully two years ago this month,November 2005. I never really shared my faith much, but here’s the thing: Not because i wasn’t good at it. Not because i wasn’t comfortable with it or it made me nervous. I just didn’t want to go to the trouble. God’s challenged me greatly in that area through you and all the other speakers! I felt terrible when the first day there. I felt terribly alone and hopeless. I wasn’t, but those are the feelings that i have sometimes. being able to sit in an arena with 9,000 other kids my age,and listen to you speak clearly and certainly(two things that i rarely see outside of when my daddy speaks) out of the Word of God gave such hope and such a feeling of peace. I didn’t even get to meet you, but i could tell by the way you spoke and the way you presented the truth from the Life Giving Word of God that you truly cared about me and that you loved and prayed for me. I have always had a passion for teenagers and kids my own age or younger, but seeing you take your passion and doing something about it;seeing you organize that passion and letting God work through that passion, truly inspired me. Thank you for that. I hope to come back next year and perhaps i’ll get to meet you then. Peace be with you in our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ!

The conference in Denver was AMAZING! I am a 15 year old student at Weld Central High School in Keensburg, Colorado. My youth group, Lighthouse BAptist Youth Group, was over excited to come to the comference. Everyone one of us loved the chance to get closer to God. All of us also took your double dare. But i have a question for you. During the cell phone challenge i went to call my friend Ashley and i felt as if the message that i told her did not get throufgh her head. So, what can i do to let her know that the only way to go is through Jesus Christ? Well thank you for stopping in Colorado for my second year at Dare2Share and i am already counting down the days for next years conference.

I shared the G.O.S.P.E.L with one of my friends who I was unsure knew Christ or not. So I called her on Sunday, after i left her a message on Saturday for the cell phone challenge, and shared to Gospel with her. She believed everything, and then we prayed afterwards. I started it off, then she added something, and then I closed the prayer. It almsot made me cry to hear her pray to our loving God, and i also told her that whenever she has any problems, talk to God cause he’s always there for us. I also todl her to praise God for anything good that happens. I told her that I would always be there for her as well. You really rocked D2S this year and your son is adorable!!!!! I took the Double Dare and it felt great! I love you, Derwin and Zane! You guys rock…and Godrocks! I will also never forget the sound of that choufarr!!!! there is fun to be had. The food drive was a step out of my comfort zone, but,it

    • GREGGGG!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I went to the Denver conference. For the fourth time in a row :D. Lets just say it was life changing. I’ve always loved sharing my faith. But I never understood the ‘in God’s timing’ deal. I though ‘well at least I’m sharing my faith’. It was bad. Anyway, I took the cell phone challange and I called my friend Maddie. She was caught off gaurd at first. You see I go to a catholic, all girls high school. The girls at my school think that God is school. They think that they HAVE filled the hole in their heart with them.. he just doesnt fill it up.. you know? So it’s kind of hard sometimes. I feel like I’m being mean and saying they’re horrible catholics. Anyway I called my friend Maddie and even though she didnt accept Christ right then and there, I know I put a thought in her head. Then I took the 48 hour challenge. Except I was sick monday, so I didnt go to school. I know it was Satan trying to make me forget about it. But I didnt. I shared the gospel with my friend Alli today. It was perfect, perfect timing and everything. It was just us and I kind of said out of the blue “ifyouweretodietoday… would you know….. FORSURE.. if you would go to heavvnen?” I was stuttering and sweating but something inside of me made me say it.. the Holy Spirit. Anyway, we started talking about it and she said that no, she didnt think she was going to heaven because she though that you get into heaven by taking communion. I honestly have never heard that so I was kind of taken aback, and so I prayed that God would give me courage to keep going, love when explaining my faith, and that he’d help me.. well.. talk. Haha. So we kept talking for a good thirty minutes. It was AWESOME, AMAZING. I reliazed that people really DO want to talk about.. people really DO want to know what goes on after life on this earth. But all around me there were distractions. I know it was satan trying to ‘do his thing’. People kept coming up to me and asking me questions, a girl kept throwing a frisbee at me, and other stuff too. But I prayed agian and said “Lord, help me finish the gospel. Help me block out the distractions and tell Alli the good news of Jesus Christ”. And he did, he helped me =D. Well if anyone has read Greg’s book “The field guid to…”, I’m a talker. So it was definitly a change to sit and listen to her. But I did, and when I began to share the gospel GUESS WHAT… I forgot G. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO D2S FOR FOUR YEARS.. and I forgot G. I went on anyway. Later she brung it up again, she wanted to know my veiws on catholism. I told her, in a loving way. Not a “SAINTS ARE STUPID” way. :D. Then later that day she sent me a text saying “I just wanted to tell you that I really liked talking with you. I dont really have anyone to talk to about that stuff.” I was like “PRAISE JESUS”. I have first period with her tomarrow and I have a feeling she’s going to bring it up. I hope she does. Then maybe she too will be looking foward to the sound of the choufarr.. not dreading it. =D

I do have a question though; Greg or whoever’s reading this, do you know any good verses when it comes to catholism? Like saints, confession, and that stuff? And do you know of a verse that says that Jesus said ‘the only way into heaven is to drink my blood and eat my body’? Because Alli said there was and I was like “huh?!” It would really help.. email me; crazredhead12@hotmail.com

Thank you, D2S team, you guys really mean alot to me. :D

Lately, at school, all I can think about is ways to worship God with all my actions. Another thing is that I want to spend sooo much more time in God’s word and talking to God. I also broke the ice with one of my friends about her not having her religion, I have been praying for her for almost a year and I think it’s time to tell her a little more about JESUS!!! Thank you for helping me see how many other christian youth there are and i’m not alone.I went to the Pepsi Center again on Monday night for a nuggets game and it just wasn’t the same thing… no more free hugs, high fives for Christ, or screaming represent get krunk,if u know you reppin Jesus go ahead and throw it up.

    • Hi Greg,

This was the first year I’ve ever been to Dare2Share as a youth leader. I loved it. We will be back next year. I took 4 teen boys and a 10 year old (my grandson) and wow, what an awesome experience. My son, has been saved and serving the Lord since he was 10 and he has a big influence on his friends and he is actually the one who started our youth group in Gypsum. The three other boys who went, Joey, Joel and Anthony are unchurched and had never really heard the Gospel presented in the way it was presented to them at Dare2Share. They trusted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and took the double dare challenge. They came back on FIRE. sharing the Good news with ALL their friends. Wrestling practice started on Monday, and the boys came straight to my house after practice for youth and brought 15 other kids with them. They took over the meeting and shared their experiences with everyone and told them they adopted a little guy named Gustavo from Peru. They took a collection for him and 3 other kids trusted Jesus for the first time that night. All 4 of these young men prayed and hugged these that accepted Jesus and were so happy. I am just so Blessed and I know that God is going to do awesome things in Gypsum Colorado. By the way, I use your material all the time. Thank you soooooo much. May the Lord continue to Bless your ministry.

    • Hey Greg I wanted to share my crazy 48 hours story with you….

So it was the Sunday after d2s hit Denver and I took the double dare. I help with lights and music and stuff at my church so I have to be there really early. I was flying down an abandon highway at 70 (though the speed limit or suggestion as I call it was 55. now first let me tell you I have never even seen a cop on this highway let alone been stopped by one… until Sunday that is.

So out of nowhere there was a cop and he pulled me over… bummer especially since I got my license all of 20 days ago. As he came up to my car I tried to remain calm. he came up to my window and looked in he asked for my license and all that and then he asked me what I was doing out so early and then I blurted it out with out even thinking,
“I help at my church with lights and sound if you were to die right now how sure are you you would go to heaven?” ok so if you have ever had someone give you a weird look image that by like 5000 and you have his expression. He just stared for a minute an answered “well I guess I would go to heaven.” I asked him if he would like to know a hundred percent and he said yes. After that I shared the GOSPEL with him and he accepted Jesus (yes that is correct he accepted Jesus on the side of the highway at 5:30am) after this he said he really would like to know more so I gave him my Bible and told him where my church was and what times we met. He told me to slow down and watch for cops behind my back and didn’t even give me a warning.

At the 10 o’clock service I looked down over the crowd to see a police officer sitting in the front row.

    • Greg I need help. I’ve been reading your book; The Handbook For Sharing your Faith, but I’m still confused on the “In God’s Timing” part.
I love sharing the gospel. Sometimes its hard to bring it up but I just love sharing the good news of Jesus with people.
But sometimes I feel like I’m sharing it.. too much, you know?
Sometimes in my heart I feel like it’s not the right time. And I pray that God helps me determine whether that’s HIM talking to me.. or Satan.
      But I’m still confused “/

    • Hey Greg
Thanks, I attended D2S in Denver as a adult volunteer and discovered that my calling is the youth, how amazing it was to see all those kids from all over the place so fired up to share the word of God with others.
I am so greatful that we as a family found out the truth about Jesus and what he did for us, as I was raised in a different Church I feel like with that I can use what I learned there to help others know, that just because we live in Utah the truth is out there, and together with God’s help it is visible to everyone who is ready to hear it, Thanks again to your whole team
can’t wait till next year to attend again
God loves you and so do I

    • Hey Greg, Me again

Well something very interesting happened today that I thought I’d share with you. It hasn’t been a full week since I pledged my allegiance to Christ and took the Double Dare and I’ve already started slacking off (I know, I know, bad David *slaps hand*). So I came home from work today and there was a package sitting on the counter addressed to me from “His Story”, now I didn’t remember ordering anything recently, but my birthday was on saturday the 10th so I thought that it might be a late birthday present. So I ripped open the package and to my surprise a Bible pops out at me, so now that I’m thoroughly confused I read the card that was inside and it turned out to be materials from “Campus Missionaries”, something that I had signed up for 2 years ago at a youth camp and never heard back from. So as for the rest of the package it contained five books of hope (summarized versions of the Gospels in a magazine format) to hand out to friends, a backpack sized study bible, and a materials card.

The timing of this is just too coincidental to be anything but a not-so-subtle reminder from God of what I promised Him last weekend. Funny how He has his ways of telling us to get our acts together. XD

    • Hey Greg,

I feel slightly ashamed that i didn’t take you up on your cell phone challenge, i wanted to, but that’s just not my style of evangelism, and again on saturday night, it was very hard fer me to approach people and talk to them about Jesus at all. But this past Tuesday, i was walking home from school, there was another kid on the other side of the street. He’d been in one of my classes freshman year, but apart from that, no contact really, but i heard the spirit of the Lord speaking to me through my song “If We Are The Body” the words were, “if we are the body, why aren’t his arms reaching, why aren’t his hands healing, why aren’t his words teaching, and if we are the body, why aren’t his feet going, why is his love not showing them there is a way?” So, i walked right across the street and we started to talk. He has a medical condition like autism, but not as severe, but he seemed very interested in the gospel message, he thought that it was really cool, how Jesus could come and do a thing that he did. We didn’t get to pray because his bus came, but after he left, I was completely overjoyed, there was a feeling inside of me that I couldn’t explain, but now I can, thank God for the Holy Spirit. Just thought I’d let you know Greg, thanks for being such an inspiration to me at Dare 2 Share

    • Hi Greg,

I went to the D2S in Denver. It was a long ride cause I live in Idaho.(Long Ride). I took the Cell Phone and Double Dare Challenge. It was so scary, but when I started talking to her it was like God was speaking through me. Since D2S I have talked to about 6 people about Christ or asked them what faith they were. Its hard for me to talk to people about Christ cause I’m homeschooled. Could you guys do a D2S in Idaho or Utah maybe? It would be less expensive for me to go to one. Thanks.

    • My life was changed by Dare 2 Share. This was my second year and it really convicted me to ask myself if I was Living for God. I have been reading the Left behind series and I really wonder if I could ever live that way. I hope I won’t have to if Christ comes back in my lifetime. It makes me want to believe in a pre-trib rapture. Thank you so much, Greg, for your impact on so many teen lives. I was really struck by the paper section of the conferenc. I am proud to say that I have cleaned out my room, and I am sponsering a child through Compassion. I hope that I can be an exaple to others who live for money, not for God. I didn’t take the Double Dare, but I am still telling as many people about Christ as I can. I am praying for those who took the Double Dare that they will have an impact on others around them. I pray for you too, Greg, that God will protect you and give you strength to continue to tranform our world as teens.
